How We Met
“I come from a typical Punjabi Sikh family. I had willingly given my parents the option to find a suitable match for me. After seeing a dozen of guys through the mediator who had sort of become a savior for my parents to find me a suitable match, I finally managed to meet Manmeet. Unfortunately, we both declined each other’s profile on the pretext of an age gap. I strongly believe that there is always a reason behind something and as destiny would have it, Manmeet and I found our way back to each other. We finally met and I am so glad that we took the right decision.”

The Proposal
“Manmeet chose to propose to me despite our arranged marriage setup. Since he didn’t want to take too many risks, he opted for conventional routes. The first proposal involved him getting a special heart-shaped brownie and flowers for me. The second proposal was a little more elaborate. Keeping in mind my profession and love for baking, he arranged for a beautiful date night with cupcakes that were artfully arranged to state ‘Will you marry me?’ In the same week, our parents met and a ‘roka’ (Punjabi pre-wedding ritual) ceremony was arranged.”

Wedding Functions

Engagement Ceremony
“Every aspect of the wedding was executed and planned by our families, from choosing the wedding photographers, venues, decorto designing the wedding cards. After a lot of hunting, we finalized a farm at Radhe Mohan Drive for our engagement ceremony which had a ‘Modern-Retro’ theme. I wore a stunning champagne-gold ruffled gown, and Manmeet wore a black tuxedo with a white shirt and red bow tie for this function.”

Mehndi and Cocktail
“Our cocktail party was held at Hotel Mapple Exotica in Chattarpur. Their in-house decorator Nitin Thapar executed some great decor ideas keeping the ‘White & Blue’ theme for the evening in mind. We were happy that everyone enjoyed the music and dancing and seemed to have had a good time. I wore a red crop top and lungi outfit for the mehndi , and an Indo-Western ensemble with a flared white skirt and a long blue blouse with gold threadwork for the cocktail party.”

Wedding Ceremony
“Our traditional wedding ceremony was held at the Gurudwara Vidya Kendra in Chattarpur, followed by lunch at Oodles Hotel. I wore a beautiful light pink lehenga for the ceremony, and Manmeet wore a light beige sherwani with a turquoise ‘safa’(turban) and waist sash that matched the pastel theme of the wedding.”
