Manasvi and Rohit, Saathe Lawns, Nashik

Manasvi’s cinematic boat entry at her wedding ceremony was the highlight of the celebrations.

Manasvi and Rohit met in college but parted ways. However, fate had other plans for them years later when they reunited in the US thanks to a mutual friend. The bride tells us about their love story and shares photos of their big day clicked by WeddingSutra Favorite – Rangresa Pictures.

How They Met
“Our story began in September 2008. Rohit was the first really cute senior I spotted walking around the campus. He is 6’4” and not easy to miss! Little did I know that he had spotted me too. A few months later I got a call from an unknown number. It was Rohit asking me if I was safe after the 26/11 terror attacks since I lived close to the area. With that began a saga of endless phone conversations and long walks around South Mumbai. However, as time would have it, we lost touch after college only to meet in America again three years later. A mutual friend was my roommate and played Cupid by inviting him to Michigan from Buffalo. She was one of the people who always wondered why we were just friends. Once again, we hit it off like a house on fire, but this time, we didn’t part ways!”

The Proposal
“One fall evening, Rohit took a clueless me to a fancy restaurant in Brooklyn, after which he insisted that we take a walk in the park (in retrospect, this should have been my clue since going to both these places is very unlike him). Then, against the view of the glorious night skyline and under the Brooklyn Bridge, he popped the question, and I said ‘Yes!’”

Wedding Venue
“We were looking for an uncommon location for an outdoor ceremony in Nashik which is no easy feat in a small town. However, we chanced upon Sathe Lawns which is a quiet and serene space on the banks of the Gangapur River and it proved to be the perfect location for our big day.”

Wedding Planning
“We put together the wedding ourselves with a ton of help from our family and friends. However, to capture the special moments, we got Rangresa Pictures on board. Kunal and his team are an absolute pleasure to work with. Their skill of capturing exquisite candid photographs even in complete chaos is unparalleled! Meraki – Makeup & Hair by Ritika was in charge of dolling me up. If there is anyone who can convince me to do heavy eye-makeup and make it look smashing, it’s Ritika. She makes sure that you feel very comfortable throughout the process, which was important for a makeup novice like me.

Puja Hairstyles not only put effort into making my hair look gorgeous, but also did the same for Rohit and rest of my family.”

Wedding Functions

Haldi
“A haldi ceremony held late in the afternoon marked the beginning of our wedding festivities, as colorful decor created using printed fabrics and bright drapes added to the lively mood of the event. Our guests had a blast smearing us with turmeric paste but what they enjoyed the most was attacking us with ice, ketchup, and eggs! For this event, I chose to wear a green dress from Sakina Shakeer Designs while Rohit opted for a yellow and green kurta by the same designer.”

Mehndi
“The venue and decor from the haldi also served as the backdrop of our mehndi. We invited ghazal singers to this function who did a wonderful job at setting a relaxed tone. My mother, my closest girls and I, also had a dance performance which was met with applause. However, what stunned them all was the fact that we went on stage after only a night of practice!”

Wedding
“A sprawling green lawn overlooking a serene river – that was our wedding venue and it was a sight to behold. To highlight the natural beauty of the space and avoid blocking the spellbinding views, we kept large decor structures to a minimum. Our decorators made use of a lot of green and created canopies using this color to mimic and merge with the lush venue. To add colors, they used white and peach drapes and the palette was perfect for our spring wedding.

I made my way to the venue on a boat and then walked some distance under a floral canopy with my brothers by my side. When they handed it over to my girls, Rohit stepped under it with me. That was a moment that brought all the people I love the most together with me on my journey as a bride and the memory will stay with me for a long time.”

Cocktail Party
“The decor for our cocktail party was all things glitzy and glamorous and emulated a low-key 1920’s vibe. Lots of yellow lights, feathers, and boas were brought in to create the right mood, and the event was a hit with our guests who stayed up partying till dawn!”

Advice For Couples
“To all the brides – decide on what you want at your wedding and how you want it. Focus on the few things that need your attention; for the rest, delegate! Once you have assigned the tasks and followed up on it, just concentrate on having a good time. To all the grooms – be the support system your bride needs and sometimes the shield as well. You are both going through a lot, and it’s best that you’ll go through it together. Nothing is more important than you two being on the same page.”
