Meera and Neeraj, ITC Grand Chola, Chennai
A fairytale ceremony inspired by enchanting forests was brought to life at a venue that exuded a magical grandeur.
Meera and Neeraj’s wedding celebration saw a host of striking elements harmonize to create a truly enchanting ambiance. The theme, ‘In The Woods’, was brought to life by WeddingSutra Favorite – The Bridal March & Co. Creative Director Meera. The wedding planner bride came up with the décor direction and executed the stunning setup with the help of her team. The celebration took place at ITC Grand Chola in Chennai; the opulent venue added magnificent splendour to the event. Meera shares the highlights of the occasion.
How They Met
“Neeraj and I met at our spiritual organization, The Heartfulness Institute. It was an arranged marriage and his was the first proposal I had received. We instantly went ahead with it. I had no doubts. In fact, both Neeraj and I had this ‘sure shot’ feeling that we were meant to be.”
Meera gives her reasons for zeroing in on their wedding venue, saying, “The venue for our wedding celebration was ITC Grand Chola, Chennai. Having been in the wedding industry for a long time, I was quite comfortable with the management of the hotel and was familiar with their impeccable service.”
Describing how she undertook the task of creating her ideal decor, the bride says, “Whenever I visualized my wedding, I always had one word come to mind: dreamy. Being a wedding planner left me spoilt for choice as there has been such beautiful decor that I have seen over the years. However, the one thing that directly connects with me as ‘dreamy’ is clouds. So, with the décor, what I was standing around mattered much less to me than what I was standing under! Experimenting with ceiling details, we strategically designed the décor so that it looked layered and enhanced against a jet-black background.”
She adds, “My imagination has always been my superpower. I envision spaces for what they can be rather than what they are. ‘Into the Woods’ is what I came up with for my own wedding. After negotiating the various angles and space, I visualized what I wanted. The final outcome was a dreamy ceiling with clouds, gypsophila, fairy lights, real roots and greens (that were actually taken from a forest) and, of course, crystals and chandeliers.”
Advice For Couples
“Always work with a to-do list. Work backward from what you’ve always dreamed about having at your wedding. Then pick the vendors who match your personal style and are capable of executing it. Do your homework.”
