Nandni and Vahin, The Imperial New Delhi

With a chevron-patterned dance floor surrounded by rich green foliage, this couple’s sangeet was a peppy affair.

Destiny played a role when Nandni, a wedding decorator, and Vahin, a finance professional, met each other for the first time, despite knowing of each other, and felt an instant connection. The duo exchanged vows at their dreamy wedding meticulously orchestrated by WeddingSutra Favorite – Plush weddings. Bride Nandni shares some key moments of the wedding and planning process here.

How they met
Nandni shares, “Vahin and I have known of each other since college and share a couple of mutual friends, but somehow, we never got to know each other. But once we met in 2016, we hit it off instantly. Both of us realized that we were in love and once our parents got involved, there was no looking back.”

The Proposal
Even though there was no formal proposal as such, Vahin went the extra mile and proposed to Nandni on the terrace of Hotel Fairmont Jaipur, which was followed by a cozy dinner and a quick photo session.

Wedding Venue
Nandni shares, “We took our time deciding the wedding venue and both our families had multiple rounds of discussions where we brainstormed ideas and weighed the possibilities of the number of guests on our list. It was quite a comprehensive process where every detail was finely combed through. At first, we looked at a few properties in Udaipur, Rajasthan, but the convenient location and relaxed vibe of The Imperial, in New Delhi, trumped over everything else.”

Wedding Planning
“Coming from the wedding industry, I knew a couple of planners but many of them were not based out of Delhi. But as Vahin and I plunged into the planning process we slowly found our way around things with vendors helpfully sharing contacts. That is how we selected Plush weddings for our nuptials and they did a fantastic job. From supporting us at every turn to making sure my parents enjoyed the wedding to the fullest, they held our hand throughout the planning process. We also got in touch with wedding decorators and choreographers over a span of two to three months. Our aim was to find people who understood our vision and whose services fit our budget. On the wedding invitations front, Reddy Printers, who are very popular in Rajasthan, designed all the wedding collaterals from my side. Twogether Studios were also very helpful in putting us in touch with vendors who suited our needs, and I think they captured the essence of our wedding really well.”

Weddings Functions

Welcome Lunch and Mehndi
A sunlit and breezy affair, the mehndi ceremony was combined with a welcome lunch that saw friendly banter as the guests mingled freely on the sprawling lawn. Replete with flowers, the whole venue had a casual vibe which allowed guests to relax. Nandni shares, “Once the guests checked in and everyone had settled down, we held a high spirited mehndi celebration that was full of drinks, dance and delicious food.”

For this occasion, she wore a pink and yellow lehenga that she paired with a pearl choker necklace. Vahin opted for an off-white bandhgala jacket over a white kurta.

Sangeet and Engagement
A glitzy affair, the joint sangeet, and engagement ceremony followed a ‘Fun & Young’ themed bash which the younger guests enjoyed. To set the tone, evergreen colors like, white, gold and green enhanced the beauty of the lush lawn. With a chevron print dance floor in the center surrounded by foliage and lit with the glow of candles, everyone had fun dancing to their favorite tunes. Amidst all the cheer, Vahin went down on one knee before Nandni to declare his love for her and formally slipped a ring on her finger. The after-party that followed also reflected the same enthusiasm with a DJ, dhol drummers and fun photo booths.

Looking majestic in a slate grey embroidered gown, Nandni was the showstopper of the evening. Vahin, too, cut a dashing figure in his floral printed blue bandhgala.

Haldi
Surrounded by her girl squad, Nandni had a great time at her haldi and chuda ceremony where she was doused in turmeric under the cerulean blue sky. The decor followed a distinctly floral and ethnic theme with accents of magenta adding a pop of color. As she was showered with rose petals and blessings, the bride made a pretty picture in a yellow salwar kameez that she’d paired with a regal maang tikka and earrings.

Wedding
For the wedding, the duo went for traditional yet modern decor. The decor had a red and white palette accentuated with gold and brass elements. For the mandap, the same color scheme was followed with fresh jasmine garlands hanging from the ceiling which contrasted with the rich red hue.

Nandni shares, “We held our pheras ceremony at sunset, and wanted everyone to be a part of our small wedding. I think at any wedding the pheras are the most beautiful part and I didn’t want any of our guests to miss out on it. Keeping this in mind, the mandap was centrally placed so that everyone present could see us clearly.”

For her big day, Nandni chose a beige and gold lehenga which she paired with shimmery eyelids and a nude lip. Vahin, on the other hand, kept it simple in a white sherwani and a beige shawl with a golden lustre to complement his bride’s look.

Advice For Couples
“Planning and hosting a wedding is a very taxing process since you want everything to be perfect and be happy at the same time. I would recommend setting your priorities right and be flexible about certain things. Be patient, positive, and understand that sometimes it’s okay to be stubborn, but it’s also essential to not get too carried away if a few things don’t go ahead as planned.”
