Neha and Chirag, The St. Regis Mumbai

A dreamy wedding filled with music and merrymaking unfolded in Mumbai when Neha and Chirag exchanged vows at The St. Regis Mumbai.

Neha and Chirag considered multiple locations when planning their wedding and zeroed in on Mumbai for their May wedding. Here, bride Neha shares highlights from the nuptials and candid moments beautifully captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – Confetti Films.

How We Met
“We met through Chirag’s cousin in June 2016 and dated from there on. He officially asked me out on the September 1 that year by taking me to the restaurant where we had a first date.”

The Proposal
“After a year and a half of dating, Chirag planned a surprise trip to Bali in January 2018. He handed me the ticket a day before we had to fly out saying it was to celebrate my birthday and I believed him, but there was a lot more to it. On January 4 (a day before my birthday) he popped the question in the most romantic way on the beach that was connected to our hotel, Conrad after which we had dinner at a private bale with a menu curated by Chirag. It was the most perfect proposal and I’m truly lucky.”

Wedding Venue
“We started planning the wedding soon after our engagement and started looking at venues only in February 2018. We first wanted to get out of the country or at least the city for our wedding. However, we felt that May doesn’t have very favorable weather conditions in the locations we were considering, and if we were anyway going to have indoor functions, we thought we might as well host our wedding in Mumbai. When we entered The St Regis Mumbai to suss it out as one of our function venues, we fell in love with it and walked out after finalizing it for all our functions!”

Wedding Functions

Mehndi
“The bride had her very own intimate mehndi ceremony at her place with close family and friends in attendance. After the bride’s mehndi ceremony, there was a beautiful sundowner function followed by pre-wedding prayers. It was hosted at the Zenith Suites, and the decor for this was very Indian which involved marigolds, rustic accents, and vibrant colors. We had a DJ too, and he turned the function into a rocking party.”

Wedding
“The decor theme for the pheras dominated by peach, pink, and white hues. We wanted to have something different from the usual tabla and flute as background music, so we had the talented Mateen Kardame to sing romantic songs alongside a percussionist and everything turned out to be beautiful.”

Evening Cocktail
“We didn’t want to have a typical reception with the couple standing on the stage like statues for hours not knowing whom they are meeting. This is why our guest list for the entire wedding was very limited. We only invited close friends and family like people usually do for destination weddings. We wanted to have people around us we know are close to our hearts. The decor for this function was primarily centered around white – from the bar, dance floor to the crystals and bulb hangings. Everything was classy and dreamy. We deliberately kept the decor on the simple side as we believe in ‘less is more’ and we did not want to overcrowd the place with lots of props and heavy decoration. We even had Sanjana, the owner of La Folie to design our beautiful cake for this evening.”
