Nidhi and Sachit, Udaipur

This gorgeous Rajasthani wedding was all about unique functions and non-stop entertainment.

Nidhi and Sachit’s breathtaking lakeside wedding in the stately location of The Leela Palace, Udaipur, was a dream come true for the bride. The extravagant yet intimate wedding was executed by Weddingutra Favourite – A New Knot. Here are a few glimpses from the occasion.

How They Met
Nidhi says, “Ours is a quintessential love story: a guy from Delhi and a girl from Mumbai locking horns over everything on principle and eventually falling in love. Sachit struck up a conversation with me when we were working out at a gym in Mumbai. While I was hesitant to talk to a stranger, his easy charm and impressive voice won me over. Little did I know that I had just met the man I would marry. Coming from a very conservative family, we faced many challenges and it took us months to get my family on board. Seven years of long distance, countless stolen meetings and several roadblocks later, here we are. He is my best friend and my rock, my North Star, and I cannot imagine marrying anyone else in this lifetime”.

Wedding Venue
“I have always been fascinated by history, heritage influences and old-world charm. I dreamed of a wedding at a venue that exudes royalty, luxury and splendour, so Udaipur was an ideal choice for our destination wedding. The Leela Palace was the first property we explored, and we were instantly floored by its grandeur, luxury and unbeatable views. We knew we had found the perfect place”.

Wedding Planning
Online inspirations from portals such as Instagram, Pinterest and wedding websites were integral in helping the couple find their vendors. They picked A New Knot to plan their wedding because of their exceptional services and great organizational and logistical capabilities. For hair and makeup, Nidhi entrusted SP Eastland from Delhi to give her spectacular looks for all her functions, and Vidya from Mumbai for her gorgeous hairdos. While choosing their photographer, the couple wanted someone who would capture the fun and quirkiness of their bond in its truest form – they found their perfect match in Recall Pictures.

“Invitation cards bestow the initial impression of you as a couple and what your upcoming wedding celebrations are going to be all about. This was one of the aspects that I cared most about. I chose Itchha Talreja, who created a card that reflected all the elements of our wedding, such as the venue, decor, the feel, the color scheme, etc.”, shares the bride.

Haldi and Holi
Day two commenced with an intimate haldi function in the inner courtyard of the hotel. The bride and groom looked sunkissed in their outfits, as their friends and families smeared them with turmeric paste. The event was followed by a fun holi party. The guests were invited in by mesmerizing kathak dancers from Chandigarh, and everyone enjoyed playing with colors. More dances followed, including a competitive dance off between the bride’s and groom’s families. The couple both wore gorgeous embroidered white outfits from the bride’s own design label.

Wedding
The wedding ceremony was a regal affair, perfectly framed against the gorgeous palatial backdrop. The groom wore a rich ivory and gold sherwani and the bride was resplendent in an embellished red lehenga. Both outfits were from Rimple and Harpreet Narula. The groom matched his multilayer necklace of green precious stones to the bride’s polki jewellery, which was especially sourced from Rajasthan. There was a gentle and auspicious chanting that cast an air of serenity at the ceremony.
