Nikita and Umang, Daman
From Bollywood hits that made guests nostalgic to the groom singing for his bride, this wedding was full of memorable moments.
They say that love is written in the stars and Nikita and Umang proved it with their story. Although the couple met each other through a traditional arranged marriage set up, Umang swept Nikita off her feet with a romantic proposal in the beautiful hills of Mussoorie. Here, the bride shares some highlights of the celebrations.
How They Met
“Our parents introduced us, and that is when we started to talk to each other on the phone. In a couple of days, we got to know how compatible we were and he decided to fly down to meet me. Luckily for us, Umang got a job opportunity where I resided and decided to shift. It was like all the stars in the universe aligned to make this happen. We discovered that we shared many similar interests and life experiences which convinced us to take the next step.”
“Umang planned a romantic getaway in Mussoorie for my birthday. Throughout the weekend, he kept showering me with gifts and organized fun treasure hunt games around the house. Little did I know that there was a grand finale of this game waiting to be unraveled. We reached the hill station and there was a beautiful dinner table set up in the lap of lush mountains. As the sunset, I was about to cut my birthday cake, when Umang slowly turned around and went down on one knee to propose. I said, ‘Yes!’ The proposal marked the beginning of a wonderful life ahead for us.”
The couple planned a pre-wedding photoshoot at The Perfect Location in Faridabad, Haryana. Their quirky and romantic moments were perfectly captured by Shutter Shades Photography. The photoshoot was held at different sets on the location and the couple chose sets that were vibrant with bright themes. They had fun posing as if they were biking around the place, painting walls, blowing bubbles and dancing around.
“My family lives in Mumbai and Umang’s family is based in Gujarat. So, we wanted to select a neutral location between Mumbai and Gujarat. Daman felt like the perfect choice!”
“We went for Concept Weddings by Sheer Management as our planners because we had seen their work at another family event earlier, and we were impressed. They executed our vision of the wedding and managed everything better than I could have ever imagined!”
The bride praised the photography and make-up team as well. She said, “My make-up artist Shamia and her team made me look perfect for each function. Our photographers were the team from Shutter Shades, and I would highly recommend Amit and crew. They gracefully captured all our fun, candid, and treasured moments from the wedding.”
The celebrations kicked off with the mehndi ceremony. The theme was pink for the bride’s side, and blue for the groom’s side. Nikita wore a pink embroidered top with frilly sleeves and a white lehenga with hints of pink on it. The groom chose an off-white kurta with embroidered blue sleeves which he paired with a blue silk Nehru jacket.
The couple looked perfect together as they posed amidst the beautiful floral decor. The function was filled with music, dance and a lot of fun games.
The next event was the sangeet ceremony which had a 90’s retro theme to it. All the major performances were on the hit tracks of that era. Guests loved the Shah Rukh Khan numbers that made everyone quite nostalgic. Nikita chose a delicately embroidered light blue lehenga with an off-shoulder choli and a tulle dupatta for this event, and Umang donned a matte black regal sherwani. The couple made a filmy entry at the venue on an open-air cycle rickshaw with a board that read, “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.”
Rang Mein Masti
The Haldi function was combined with a pool party. The venue had a vibrant pink, white, and yellow floral decor. The couple danced their way into the venue as the guests welcomed them with colorful smoke bombs. Nikita looked lovely in a light yellow lehenga and a choli with colorful mirror work. She completed her look with floral accessories and a gorgeous side braid. Umang went with a white kurta and a Nehru jacket with floral motifs.
Mangal Phera & Hast Melap
Holding a bouquet of roses, Nikita entered the venue under a beautiful floral canopy. She was escorted by her father. Umang surprised her by singing a romantic number with a special romantic singing performance during her entry.
The beautiful bride wore a traditional red lehenga which was paired with a choli with embroidered floral motifs and a contrasting rose gold dupatta. Her look was completed with an elegant necklace, earring, bangles, and a matha patti. The groom donned a heavily embroidered beige sherwani with a golden dupatta. He also wore beaded jewellery and a golden turban with a brooch.
The floral mandap featured pink and orange decor, and as the couple exchanged garlands, the fireworks beside them lit up the stage.
