Nitya and Sacheev, Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta
From an ‘arcade’ sangeet to a ‘jungle’ wedding, this exuberant wedding explored myriad fun themes with awe-inspiring decor.
Memorable weddings are often those that truly capture couples’ personalities. Nitya and Sacheev’s Indonesia wedding had functions that were filled with unique elements and distinct flavors that thoroughly represented the bride and groom. The unforgettable celebrations were captured in all its quirky glory by WeddingSutra Favorite – Sam & Ekta. Here are a few glimpses.
How They Met
“Sacheev and I met by accident more than eight years ago. Since then, nothing has ever felt accidental. It has all felt like a plan – by God, by the universe, by whatever force you believe in,” gushes Nitya.
She says, “We scoured several locations but Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta, was the only hotel we liked that was available on our dates. The team was extremely accommodating to everything we needed and asked for. They made us feel at home for not just those three-four days of the wedding, but in the months leading up to it while we were planning as well. Everybody was kind and treated everything with love and care. Every location was different and every occasion felt unique.”
The couple entrusted the talented duo Sam & Ekta to capture every moment of their wedding celebrations. “They understood and encapsulated everything we wanted. They were more than photographers, and truly blended in with everyone to capture the best of every moment. We are honored that we were able to work with them for our wedding.”
Inaaz Communique planned the festivities, while Steve’s Décor executed the fabulous decor. Amrit Kaur and Herman transformed the bride’s hair and makeup into works of art for the functions, and a plethora of amazing entertainers were hired to wow guests with performances.
Nitya says, “We wanted a fun and unique theme for the sangeet that everyone would enjoy and remember – we decided on an ‘arcade’ theme. It was a complete throwback to childhood and everyone let loose and enjoyed like they were kids again. Sacheev wore an SVA custom bandhgala with car motifs to showcase his childhood passion for racing. To surprise him, I got my Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla lehenga customized with car detailing on the waistband and dupatta.”
Mehndi and Ghari Pooja
The sangeet was succeeded by the mehndi and ghari pooja the next day. For the mehndi function that was held in the day, a colorful ‘fruit garden’ theme ran central through the decor and outfits. The bride wore a fetching Rahul Mishra strappy gown in white with floral embroidery, her black braid entwined with fresh flowers, reminiscent of Rapunzel’s hair in the Disney film ‘Tangled’. Sacheev looked suave in a breezy powder blue suit from Khanijo.
The fresh garden theme was switched to a bolder and darker jungle setup for the pheras; a thick foliage mandap tying it all together. Wearing a vibrant Anamika Khanna lehenga with Sacheev’s name embroidered discreetly all over, the bride walked in under a breathtakingly unique phoolon ka chaddar crafted out of leaves. Sacheev wore an Anamika Khanna creation as well, with Nitya’s name embroidered all over.
The final function was kept intimate and cozy with a delightful reception. Lights were draped from the ceiling, creating an enchanting atmosphere. The groom looked dapper in a bespoke three-piece suit by Hang Wong, while the bride stunned in a flared fuchsia ball gown with glittering diamond jewelry.
The talented duo Sam & Ekta surprised the couple with a beautiful ‘same day edit’ of their wedding, which was played at the reception.
