Parul and Ninad, Mumbai
After a proposal in a cozy cottage, this couple's wedding celebrations unfolded in luxe venues across Mumbai.
College sweethearts Parul and Ninad commemorated their love with a gorgeous wedding planned and executed by several WeddingSutra Favorites. Memory Jar Events were entrusted with conceptualizing the wedding while the stunning decor themes at the wedding was the work of Vivaah. WeddingSutra Favorite – The Photo Lab captured all the special moments of the celebrations in creative frames.
How They Met
Ninad shares, “Parul and I first met during our pre-MBA days when we enrolled in the MBA prep class, even though we never interacted much. As fate would have it, we ended up in the same college and to top it off, in the same division! Being part of the same social group, our friendship developed organically over time, and slowly and surely evolved into love. Our relationship strengthened with each passing day, and I knew the time had come to take it to the next level”.
With help from his close friends, the groom planned an intimate proposal at the beautiful Le Meridien, Mahabaleshwar. Planned with the pretext of a monsoon weekend getaway, Ninad decorated one of their small huts along the stream. Enveloped in the enchanting weather and lush surroundings, who could ever turn down a proposal this romantic? Completely taken by surprise, Parul was overjoyed and agreed to spend the rest of her life with Ninad.
Having spent most of their lives in Mumbai, the couple decided to tie the knot in the city. With an extensive guest list, they searched for grand ballrooms in the city, which helped them narrow down their search. The sangeet and wedding were hosted at The Westin Mumbai Garden City, while the stylish reception took place at The St. Regis Mumbai.
To plan and manage every aspect of their wedding, the couple entrusted Memory Jar Events who ensured seamless preparations and detailed attention to the nitty-gritty of the celebrations. The couple shares, “The team also helped us reach out to the best vendors and gave us their undivided personal attention. All the functions were conducted perfectly and we would highly recommend them to everyone.” Harsh Mehta of The Photo Lab was roped in to capture all the wonderful moments in memorable frames. The couple goes on, “The team was really friendly and very open to our inputs wherever we felt it was required. They are also prompt!”
The acclaimed wedding decor team of Vivaah and Gurleen Puri execute the events to perfection, with unique themes for each. Nishma Palan from Elysium Patisserie created a gorgeous wedding cake.
Groom’s Mehendi and Haldi
The celebration kicked off with the groom’s Mehndi and Haldi functions, called South Indian Mehendi, which were held at his residence. An intimate soiree in vibrant hues of yellow and orange, it was attended by just his family and close friends. Beautiful arrangements of marigolds, banana leaves, urlis and bells were created to celebrate the groom’s South Indian culture.
Sangeet and Engagement
With a decadent color palette of red and black, the Sangeet and Engagement night at the Westin boasted a Glitzy Glam theme. An exotic canopy of red flowers, lush foliage, lit glass baubles and shimmering mosaic balls topped the bridal seating area. The chevron-patterned flooring, intricate mirror panels bordering LED lights & the reflecting lights from the mosaic balls made everything around look magical. A stunning dance by the couple and their loved ones were accompanied by a rousing performance by Indian Idol season 1 winner Abhijeet Sawant. It was a night of celebration and glitz and everybody had a ball of a time. The DJ had the guests grooving till the wee hours of the morning.
Bride’s Mehndi & Haldi
An intimate affair with just family and close friends, the bride’s haldi and mehndi functions were held at The Fern, Goregaon East.
Hosted at the majestic Westin Mumbai Garden City, Parul and Ninad’s afternoon wedding was a beautiful blend of nuances of their distinct cultures. The groom donned a unique ivory sherwani embroidered with foliage and tree designs, accessorized with a red safa to match the bride’s stunning red ensemble. The bride in turn chose to wear a traditional red and gold banarasi saree with statement gold jewellery, flowing open hair and a red dupatta as a veil.
The theme for the grand reception held at The St. Regis Mumbai was English Garden. Dazzling chandeliers covered with floral arrangements spread a glow over the ballroom decorated with crystals and flowers. The groom looked suave in a tuxedo while the bride looked regal in a gold lehenga for this event.
Advice for Couples
“If you’re having a hometown wedding, you can evenly spread out the functions instead of hosting multiple events in one day that is common in destination weddings. It helps with the logistics of planning events and allows one to have some valuable time to oneself in the process.”
