Pavitra and Jay, Laxminarayan Club & Resort, Vadodara
Rooted in tradition and enhanced by modern designs, this couple’s wedding was a heartfelt celebration of love.
Set against a backdrop rich with personal history and heartfelt emotion, Pavitra Thakkar and Jay’s wedding was a graceful tapestry of tradition, design, and meaningful moments. Captured in luminous detail by WeddingSutra Favorite – Oragraphy, each frame reflected not just the visual beauty of the celebrations, but the soul of a love story years in the making. From venues steeped in family legacy to thoughtfully curated events that honored their cultural roots, every detail echoed intimacy, elegance, and joy.
How They Met
Pavitra and Jay’s story began like a scene from a coming-of-age film. “We were just kids when we met in 2015,” shares Pavitra. “He used to wait outside on his bicycle just to wave goodbye as I left school with my mom.” Over the years, this sweet schoolyard familiarity blossomed into an enduring love. In 2023, Jay proposed at Pavitra’s favorite spot, Worth Avenue in West Palm Beach, on her birthday. “It was truly a full-circle moment,” she recollects.
Wedding Venue
For Pavitra, the wedding venue wasn’t just a location; it was a legacy. “The space was built by my father and uncle. Both my elder sisters got married there, and I always knew I wanted to continue that tradition within the Thakkar family,” she says.
The sangeet and mehendi, too, held profound emotional resonance, as they were hosted in a newly built home crafted by her father in under ten months, one that her mother had long envisioned. “Starting our new chapter from that space meant everything to me,” Pavitra reflects.
Wedding Planning
Pavitra envisioned each ceremony with its own unique character, rooted in Indian traditions, yet intimate and personal. “Some events were meant only for our closest circle,” she says, “a space where we could be completely ourselves.”
One of her most treasured decisions was choosing wedding photographers, Oragraphy, to capture it all. “They always treated us like family, the photography team. I can be camera-shy, and with a wedding of over 2,000 people, that’s a big deal. But they just knew how to make me feel comfortable,” she shares. From navigating her mood boards to accommodating last-minute changes with grace, the Oragraphy team left an indelible mark. “Even Jay became a fan by the end of it!” Pavitra laughs. “Their warmth, precision, and care made our wedding feel seamless and soulful.”
Wedding Functions
Grahshanti
The sacred prelude to the wedding was kept serene and traditional on both sides. With the calming strains of music accompanying the rituals, the atmosphere exuded spiritual calm and quiet reverence.
Mehendi
Hosted at the newly built family home, this event was a vibrant homage to South Indian aesthetics. Traditional décor elements, like banana leaves, coconuts, and fresh jasmine garlands, mingled with thoughtful guest experiences like gajra welcome trays, tarot readings, and block printing on tote bags. “The space echoed my father’s architectural vision,” says Pavitra, “and we wanted every detail to honor that.” Guests also enjoyed authentic South Indian fare, while a garden corner hosted rounds of poker and blackjack for the men.
Garden Gala
A family-only soirée styled like an Indian Bridgerton-inspired garden party, the Garden Gala was delightfully relaxed. With macaroons, tea-party bites, and a playful flash mob by their siblings and friends, it offered a nostalgic window into the couple’s childhood. “It was a day of bonding that felt like home,” Pavitra reminisces.
Sangeet
Drenched in glamour and sparkle, the sangeet was an unforgettable celebration. From cascading wine glass towers and statement chandeliers to heart-thumping dance performances, every frame shimmered with joy and energy.
Wedding
The wedding was a graceful nod to timeless Indian rituals surrounded by a harmonious palette of reds, peaches, and golds. “It felt ceremonial, sacred, and intimate,” she says. Adding to the emotional depth was a musical narration of the phera ceremony.
Advice For Couples
“Weddings can feel like a whirlwind,” Pavitra reflects. “But remember, you and your partner are a team. Make time for each other, be patient, and stay grounded. Even if you don’t connect with every tradition, honor them with love. Your families have dreamt of this day, too. Embrace it all, it’s going to unfold more beautifully than you imagined.”
