Priyanka and Sukumar, Hyderabad
This traditional wedding ceremony was followed by a fun-filled reception at one of Hyderabad’s most luxurious hotels.
Priyanka and Sukumar’s nuptials brought out the very best of ethnic and modern sensibilities at their extravagant wedding reception at the ITC Kohenur. Here, the bride reminisces about the big day.
How They Met
“Sukumar and I met for the first time during our residency in 2014. We formed a great bond and were friends for a long time before we started dating. This is something that helped us get to know each other very well. Our relationship was very genuine as neither of us had any expectations. As we continued to spend time together, we got to know each other really well and fell deeply in love.”
Wedding Venue
“Our wedding ceremony was at the RD Convention Centre in Kompally, Hyderabad. The reception took place at ITC Kohenur. The ballroom at this hotel is one of the most striking spaces in the entire city and we knew that it would make a fitting location for our celebrations.”
Wedding Planning
“We did not have a wedding planner but we did have a bunch of great vendors working with us. Our nuptials were captured by Kamal Kiran Photography and my makeup artist for the events was Afsha Rangila.”
Wedding Functions
Sangeet
“Our sangeet was a lively affair! Our loved ones all had a great time and it set the tone for the festivities to come. The decor was beautiful. The stage featured a large LED backdrop that displayed visuals that synced perfectly with the dance performances. For this function, I wore a yellow lehenga and sported a braided hairstyle.”
Pellikuthuru
“The function began with an intimate haldi ceremony followed by a larger event at a different venue. As this is a very traditional ceremony, we let the usual bright colors, such as red and yellow, dictate the aesthetics. We had a large backdrop behind the bridal seating, with lots of roses and tuberoses. Keeping with the theme of the ceremony, I opted for an orange kanjivaram saree and traditional gold jewellery.”
Wedding
“The wedding was packed with an abundance of flowers, filling the air with a wonderful fragrance. The highlight of the setup was the colossal floral chandelier above the mandap. It looked absolutely stunning and amped up the beauty of the decor. I made my entrance on a palanquin, dressed in a golden kanjivaram saree.”
Reception
“Our reception was the most fitting grand finale to our celebrations. I opted for a pink lehenga while Sukumar looked dapper in a black tuxedo.”
Advice For Couples
“Not everything will go as planned. It’s important to keep in mind that this event is just a celebration of love. Don’t get distressed when a few things don’t go your way.”
