They say love is a drug. It should, therefore, come as no surprise that Priyanka found Yatin on a trip to the pharmacy. The two were quick to fall in love and recently got married in Udaipur, the 'City of Lakes'. The bride shares their journey, and the pictures of the celebrations clicked by WeddingSutra Favorite Hitched & Clicked.

How We Met
"I had just started working at the University of Kentucky as a neurology resident. One day I offered to go to the pharmacy and get a prescription pad for our extremely busy cardiology fellow. The technician there introduced me to another girl who worked there. She and I started talking and the next thing you know she tells me that I should meet this amazing guy called Yatin. We met, became good friends in a short time, and somewhere between our long drives and deep discussions over coffee, we fell in love."

Proposal
"We always talked about how we both would like to see Aurora Borealis. Yatin’s initial plan was to propose under the Northern Lights in Iceland, but it was so cold I didn’t come out of the car. He proposed the next day at the top of the Skógafoss waterfall in Iceland."

Wedding Venue
"We wanted an intimate wedding with our family and close friends. While looking at different venues, we stumbled upon The Oberoi Udaivilas in Udaipur, Rajasthan, and were mesmerized by its grandeur. Not only was it magnificent with a royal palace-like feel, their staff was very friendly and welcoming. We would like to especially thank Mr. Bhupinder Singh and Mr. Abhishek Sharma for personally taking care of everything at our wedding from the beginning to the end. They made sure our guests had an experience of a lifetime."

Wedding Planning
"The hardest thing for us was to plan the wedding while staying in the US. However, our family and the team at Udaivilas were very helpful. One of the best decisions I made was hiring Bianca Louzado as my makeup artist. She and her team did a phenomenal job. Our photographers were Hitched & Clicked. We hired Memorable Indian Weddings for the wedding planning. Rudrakash Band performed at our reception."

Wedding Functions

Mehendi
"The Oberoi Udaivilas is so picturesque that we wanted to keep the decor minimal and work around the property to accentuate its beauty. For the mehendi, we wanted to go with a light yet pleasing palette, so the resort's garden was decorated with origami art and canopies in pastel shades of orange and green. The seating arrangement for Yatin and me was especially charming. We had a canopy whose pillars were covered in twigs and branches and round fans that matched the colour scheme of the function created the roof. Lush foliage and flowers were also incorporated into its design, and the results were wonderful. My outfit for this function was from Jade. I was pleasantly surprised by their collections which were chic yet traditional at the same time. I would recommend them for wedding trousseaus. Yatin’s kurta and bandi jacket were from Anita Dongre."

Sangeet
"For the sangeet function, we covered the area with shades of emerald green. We added lots of candles and fairy lights that added a charming vibe. Canopies draped in light fabrics and illuminated roofs could be seen across the venue. The textured green backdrop that was decorated with golden frames and floral arrangements made for the perfect addition to the decor to match the mood of the evening. The highlight of the night was the dinner at the promenade with live instrumental music at Lake Pichola. Koesch by Kresha Bajaj designed my sangeet outfit. I loved her love story lehenga and wanted to have our story on my lehenga as well. My sangeet lehenga will always hold a special place in my heart. Also fair warning, Kresha’s designs are so beautiful that it’s almost impossible to walk out with just one dress. I can’t wait for my sister’s wedding so I can wear another one of her designs. Yatin opted for an Anita Dongre ensemble."

Wedding
"We used the lotus as the theme for our wedding and incorporated it in different elements of our wedding decor. For our 'varmala' (garlanding ceremony), we had a stage built over the hotel’s swimming pool, and we exchanged our garlands standing inside a lotus feature that was created in the middle of it. Even my 'phoolon ka chaadar' (floral canopy), under which I entered the wedding venue had lotus blooms suspended from it. Selecting my outfit for this ceremony was a no-brainer. I went with my all-time favorite, Sabyasachi. My mother always dreamt of seeing me in a red wedding lehenga, and you can see her joy and happiness in our photos."

Reception
"The theme for our reception was 'Travel' which we incorporated into our cake, food, and props. Red canopies lit with ornate chandeliers dotted the space, and the event had a very chill vibe since we wanted this to be a relaxing event after days of wedding madness. I sat with Gaurav Gupta to design my reception gown which was stunning. Yatin got his reception tux from Troy Costa, and we couldn’t have been happier as he looked like my 'Prince Charming.'"

Advice For Couples
"When planning your wedding trousseau, keep in mind that it takes at least three months to get the outfits ready. Brides should also book a makeup artist who understands their style and preferences."
