Raji Sundararajan and Joel’s wedding by the shoreside in Goa was a celebration of their rich cultures. Breezy and vibrant, this wedding was planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – The W Code who keenly understood the couple’s needs and orchestrated a wedding that exuded cheer at every turn.
Wedding Planning
US-based Joel, is a Manglaorean Christian while Raji is a Tamil Brahmin. Keeping this in mind, the couple wanted to combine the rituals from both their cultures at their wedding in Goa. After a thorough briefing from the couple, the planners at The W Code worked their magic as they orchestrated a series of simple yet vivid events that were a reflection of the couple’s personas. Right from the sangeet, the traditional Tamil Brahmin wedding to the dreamy white wedding – everything was picture-perfect.
Wedding Functions
Haldi and Roce
Nandhini Srinivasan from The W Code shares, “The haldi was an all-yellow themed celebration where everyone let their hair down. After the playful haldi, a Roce celebration took place. The Roce is a Mangalorean Catholic custom where the bride and groom are anointed with coconut milk ahead of the wedding.”
Sangeet
The sangeet followed a ‘blue starry night’ theme as Nandhini shares, “The ceiling was the showstopper at this event with thousands of lights lighting up the ceiling. Floral structures with white lattice work backed up the stage while the family danced their hearts out.”
Hindu Wedding
Nandhini shares, “The Tamil Brahmin wedding was hosted by the beach with an entrance decked up with banana leaves and jasmine flowers that let out a heady fragrance. The mandap, too, was decorated with blooms like chrysanthemums and tuberoses along with diyas and bells. The wedding started with the groom being welcomed, a kashi yatra, the tying of the thalii and the oonjal ceremony. Plus, a handy pamphlet kept everyone in sync with the ceremony.”
Catholic Wedding
Nandhini shares, “It was a lilac-themed wedding that took place in Colva, Goa. It was very simple with minimal floral decor and the families did share some emotional moments as the bride and groom got ready.”
Reception
At the reception, the glamour was at an all-time high. Nandhini shares, “The couple made their entry over a chrome aisle surrounded by blooms and chandeliers. The colour scheme was bold with burgundy being the dominant colour.”
