Ramya and Rahul, Hyderabad

With an elegant hanging garden like reception setup, a traditional home wedding and a raging pre-wedding party in Goa, this couple’s nuptials were all about exploring diverse moods.

Ramya and Rahul wanted it all – a Big Fat Indian Wedding and a boho rager with all their friends. And so they did. WeddingSutra Favorite Baraati Inc. was on their team and pulled off an extravagant affair with finesse. The bride tells all.

How We Met
“Rahul and I were a part of Hyderabad Angels and met at an investment forum many years back. We were friends for a very long time before we started dating and marriage is something that came to us organically. I guess when you know, you know.”

Wedding Venue
“Our wedding had two legs to it. We had a long raging party in Goa for the youngsters before the formal celebrations in Hyderabad began.

For our rager, we had a one-point agenda: to have a wild, crazy time. Panning everything that would make are nuptials so, was left to our planners Baraati Inc. They picked Riva Beach Resort as the location and it worked out fantastically! The property also offered in-house services like kayaking, cycling which really added to the whole Goa experience.

For all my wedding rituals, my father and I decided on our own home as the venue – just like they do it in the villages in Andhra. I don’t think any other venue could have matched up to the pure happiness I felt there.”

Wedding Planning
“From the moment I saw their work at my friend’s wedding, I knew I wanted Baraati Inc. to be my planners. We felt an instant connection with them which hare even to this date. If Baraati Inc. wasn’t around, nothing would have been so seamless, creative and gorgeous!”

Wedding Functions

Goa Rager
“The celebration in Goa was an out-and-out party which lasted for two days and our planners came up with four different themes for the same. The Stakeout was a Barbeque and pool party, the Burlesque Night was a night of poker, drinks, and dance, next morning we had a Spa and Games Brunch and the closing event was The White Rabbit Party (DJ Night) at Thalassa.”

Mehndi
“The functions in Hyderabad we kept had a vibe that was traditional yet quirky. For the Mehndi, we made use of drapes in light blue and lime green and fairy lights were lit to enhance the look. I especially loved the funky matchbox art-inspired bridal seating at the function. Other interesting elements were the beer bottle chandeliers.
Since the atmosphere at this event was light-hearted and fun, I went with a cold shoulder blouse and lehenga from Black Sheep by Rohini & Sabini.”

Pellikuthuru
“Florals were the ruling elements for the decor at this ceremony. The guest list here was relatively small but the spirit of celebration was quite strong nonetheless! A red saree which was bought from Kanchi was my outfit of choice.”

Wedding
“We had a quintessentially Telugu wedding. White and red were the colors that could be seen across all decor elements. I chose to wear a traditional white saree from Raw Mango which was paired with a red blouse and heavy kundan jewellery.”

Reception
“When it came to the reception, we decided to glam it up with a hanging garden setup. While pink and grey drapes were used to decorate a section of the ceiling and we made use of falling wisteria as overhead decorations in the other areas of the venue. Fresh blooms were seen in abundance even in the rest of the decor. The backdrop to our stage was a large panel of flowers and white was the color that dominated the setup. This one was all about elegance and sophistication.”

Advice to Couples

  1. Wedding planning is not an easy task – it takes a village! So be realistic about the time you are ready to invest. I knew I’d need the help of planners to execute my vision to perfection. It also helps that they can act as a voice of reason between both families.
  2. Another thing I would suggest is to start early – make sure you and your planners are in sync. I first met Baraati Inc. 10 months before my wedding. This gave us enough time to plan every little detail and work at a relaxed pace.”
