Resham and Soham, Antalya, Turkey
A Turkish Night, stilt walkers, and pheras on the pier enchanted all at Resham and Soham's waterfront wedding.
Resham and Soham’s wedding impressed all with its wonderful themes and beautiful venues in Antalya, Turkey. The couple got WeddingSutra Favorite – The Wedding Salad on board to convert their special moments into memories. Here, bride Resham shares some highlights of the charming celebrations.
How they met
“I was born and raised in Uganda, while Soham was born amid the hustle-bustle of the Mumbai suburbs and raised on the peaceful beaches of The Gambia, West Africa. He moved to England in his mid-teens for his schooling and then to pursue a degree in Finance, Accounting, and Management. I also moved to England for my studies, and we first met in Nottingham as I was a friend of his flatmate.”
“Our wedding was photographed by The Wedding Salad and we could not have been more thrilled about working with them. The team members are extremely innovative. We were so impressed by their creativity as well as their post-production. They were able to capture such beautiful shots that left us spellbound. We were really happy with their professional yet intimate outlook towards wedding photography.”
“This was an evening dedicated to the location of our wedding – Turkey. We wanted our guests who had traveled all the way to Antalya to get a taste of the local culture, and there was no better way to do so than by hosting a Turkish Night. Local curios and mosaic candle holders along with flowers made for decor centerpieces. Blue and purple were the key colors at this event, and the night was brought to life by some enthralling entertainment acts.”
“The mood that we wanted to create for our mehendi was lively and vibrant with decor that merged contemporary and quirky aesthetics. We added an ethnic touch to the event with elements such as kites that were made using decorative borders, elephants structures covered with vibrant flowers, a large poster of a man’s face wearing a Rajasthani turban, and so on. Lots of pinwheels and drapes in orange and pink were added to the eclectic decor mix too.”
“We wanted our sangeet to borrow from the glamour of Bollywood, so we added a lot of movie-centric elements. We placed film posters that were edited to feature Soham’s and my faces instead of the original actors’ in marquee light frames, and the stage followed a similar design concept. Glistening golden buntings along with yellow lights were used to decorate the path that led our guests to the ballroom, and elements that were made to look like movie reels were used to decorate the venue and added to the cinematic theme.”
“Our wedding was set to take place at a charming pier, and while designing the decor for this function we were very careful about putting together something that would not overpower the beauty of this waterfront setting. We went with light pink and white as the colors for the ceremony, and drapes balanced beautifully with the fresh flowers arrangements. I arrived under a floral canopy with my bridesmaids, while Soham reached in a candy pink vintage convertible! Everything about this day was absolutely unforgettable!”
“Themed ‘Moonlight Masquerade,’ our reception was all about old-school charm and a fair amount of drama. The night saw live performances by dancers, and our couple entry was especially noteworthy. We walked in hand-in-hand surrounded by performers walking on stilts, presenting an act with ribbons, and so on, while pyrotechnics lit up our path. Feather plumes were used as part of our decor and masks were placed on the charger plates. This indeed was the perfect way to conclude our festivities.”
