How They Met
“Karan and I first met each other three years ago at a friend’s party. It was honestly love at first sight. A few days later, I was flying down to New York for a course. By then, we both knew that we were in love, and would pull out endless all-nighters just to talk to each other. Things were getting serious at a fast pace. The day I returned from New York, Karan and I decided to talk to our parents about our relationship. Luckily, they were absolutely understanding, open, and accepting despite the fact that Karan and I belong to different castes. We got engaged soon after. During our courtship period, we enjoyed exploring almost every nook and corner of Nashik.”

Wedding Planning
The couple planned seven main functions for their wedding. The welcome lunch, musical cocktail (sangeet), pheras and reception was held at The Gateway Hotel Ambad Nashik. The mehndi, haldi and after-party took place at Hotel Express Inn. The wedding celebrations were planned by Wow Entertainment & Media, and all its memorable moments were captured by Picture Perfect India.

Wedding Functions

Welcome Lunch
The wedding celebrations kicked off with a welcome lunch at the poolside of The Gateway Hotel Ambad Nashik. The pastel decor palette included fresh flowers, beautiful little hearts, and ribbons which gave the place a warm and welcoming vibe. The tables had a combination of yellow, pink and blue settings, alongside white chairs that looked aesthetic on the green lawns. The venue also had a photo booth near the pool which had a signage of Riya and Karan’s initials.

Mehndi
The open-air mehndi was held at the poolside lawn of the Express Inn Hotel. The Punjabi-themed event was decorated with colorful flowers, quirky cushions, handicrafts, parrots, pinwheels and wooden cutouts of trucks. The bride and groom were seated against an emerald backdrop with floral arrangements. Riya wore an emerald green lehenga choli with a beige tulle dupatta, while Karan donned a royal blue kurta-salwar set along with a Punjabi-style silk jacket by HMT Tailor & Co.

Musical Cocktail (Sangeet)
The glamorous sangeet ceremony saw decor settings featuring a blue and gold color palette. An open bar was one of the highlights thanks to its lighting, innovative floral decor and chandeliers suspended from pillars. Riya looked glamorous in her royal blue gown and diamond jewellery. Karan, on the other hand, picked a matte black embroidered sherwani. The couple entered the venue holding hands and their guests welcomed them with dazzling sparklers. Riya shares, “We did not want a typical sangeet packed with too many dance performances by family members. We booked Varun Kapoor, who is a talented singer, and he entertained our guests with his melodious voice and energetic persona.”

Haldi
The haldi ceremony was held at the After Dark Sky Lounge at the Express Inn Hotel. The venue had a beautiful panoramic view of the mountains, and the breezy weather was perfect for the occasion. The intimate function was clubbed with breakfast, and the venue was decorated with lots of bright marigold blooms. Riya wore a yellow Banarsi lehenga with a teal top featuring beautiful embroidery and a pink mirror work dupatta. She got her hair styled in a braid which was decorated with floral accessories.

Pheras
The pheras took place in a mandap set up in the Grand Ballroom of The Gateway Hotel Ambad Nashik. The decor featured marigold blooms shaped into bells, elephant statues, and earthen pots. The beautiful chants played during the pheras added a sacred feel to the proceedings.

Riya picked a traditional red ensemble with gold embroidery for her pheras, and completed her bridal look with Jadau jewellery including a gold and red ‘chooda’ (bridal bracelets) set, gold choker, matha patti, earring and an elegant nose piece. Karan chose an elegant ivory sherwani with stunning golden embroidery, which he paired with a golden stole and red turban.

After Party
Held at the Express Inn, the after-party had a black and white decor palette. DJ Rink was the entertainer for the night, and made everyone dance to her beats. Riya recalls, “The bartending team handed us hip flasks which had our logo imprinted on them. It added a very personal touch to the party and all our guests loved it!”

Advice For Couples
“Always hire a good wedding planner. It makes you and your immediate family members stress-free and gives you time to breathe. I would advise you to pack your wedding ensembles in a way that is easier to find and assemble. Make sure to give ample time to your makeup artist and photographers.
