Saanchi and Shreyansh, The Leela Palace Chennai

An amethyst-themed regal wedding and reception, a tropical dinner paired with a vintage brunch - this couple experimented with unique themes for their wedding.

Chennai-based Shreyans and Mumbai-based Saanchi’s wedding celebrations hosted at The Leela Palace Chennai were extravagant and flaunted distinct themes. Planning and designing their wedding was WeddingSutra Favorite – 3X Events who carefully looked into every detail while staying true to the couple’s vision.

Wedding Venue
For the sangeet and brunch, the couple chose The Leela Palace Chennai where the property’s vast indoor and outdoor spaces made orchestrating large-scale events easy. The couple chose a huge pillarless ballroom for the glitzy sangeet and one of the vast outdoor lawns for a laid-back brunch. Located by the seaside, it also gave the guests beautiful lush vistas to feast their eyes on while they enjoyed The Leela Palace Chennai’s legendary hospitality.

Wedding Planning
Shalini Bhandari from 3X Events shares the vision the couple and their family shared with the planning team, “More than the couple, the groom’s father was quite up to date with the latest wedding trends and had an eye for the finer details. The key was to make everything different yet sophisticated. It was pivotal that the events looked different and took a step away from your average run-of-the-mill themes. And, because the couple and their families were open to new things, we were able to push ourselves and tap into our own creativity.”

Wedding Functions
Grihatpan
The Grihatpan ritual also known as ‘Grihal Shanti’ is a Marwari wedding ritual where everyone prays to the deities for a peaceful environment at the house. This particular ritual is practiced at both the bride’s and the groom’s homes. For Saanchi and Shreyansh’s Grihatpan, the couple chose to adorn the venue with pink and white blooms. Brass elements were placed strategically between the blooms to add a dash of tradition to the proceedings.

Mehndi
Adorned with vibrant hues and ethnic motifs, the bride’s mehndi exuded desi vibes with a dash of quirk. Origami windmills decorated the entrance while kites with mandala designs and tasseled floral garlands were suspended from the roof.

Mayra
With a soothing blue and white color palette, the mayra event looked elegant. Bright yellow blooms added a dose of brightness to the venue as the couple’s families exchanged gifts and greeted each other. A yellow floral arch backed the stage along with a printed blue and white backdrop.

Wedding
Using lush green foliage and white blooms that were suspended from the mandap’s canopy, the wedding mandap looked serene and romantic. Vintage bulbs cast a golden glow over the proceeding and lit up the mandap. Dressed in a monochromatic bright red lehenga, Saanchi looked stunning while Shreyansh contrasted her in a dusty pink sherwani.

Reception
Shalini shares, “The couple eschewed the usual post-wedding reception for a casual meet and greet. However, we still wanted to make it a glitzy event and zeroed in on the ‘amethyst hour’ theme. The theme was conceptualized to use rich hues of amethyst instead of subtle pink or pastel hues. A santoor artist played melodious tunes while giant organza flowers, fresh purple blooms and a glass house tied the decor together.”

Brunch
Shalini shares, “The vintage-themed brunch was hosted to celebrate the couple’s first day together as newlyweds and raise a toast to them as they embarked on a new adventure. A live band kept the guest groovy as they tucked into the delicious spread while the bartenders served flavorful cocktails!”

Sangeet
Shalini shares, “To bring the celebrations to an energetic close, the sangeet was the last event. Following a ‘Mirror Mosaic Musical’ theme – this event had just the inner family and friends circle in attendance. Everyone had a fun time dancing to their favourite tunes on a vast stage backed by LED screens while blue spotlights lit up the venue.”
