Saumya and Anu, The Resort Madh-Marve, Mumbai

This couple’s poolside Haldi was a laid back yet culturally rich affair with dhols, boliyaans, and an ornate swing adorned with roses.

Love happens when it’s meant to be, regardless of the distance or time. Such was the case for Soumya, a fiercely independent girl who’s lived life on her own terms and Anuranjan, a kind-hearted doctor based in Manchester. Their love story began in Glasgow where the pair met through mutual friends and slowly but steadily gathered pace online. After combating distance through sheer perseverance, the duo finally decided to tie the knot on the shores of Mumbai. Capturing their stunning nuptials were WeddingSutra Favorite – KnotsbyAMP who didn’t let a single emotion escape their lens and gave the couple a treasure trove of memories.

How They Met
Saumya and Anu first got acquainted to each other via a mutual friend during a dinner where they both kept glancing at each other, but then parted ways. It was only later when Anu chanced upon her Instagram, and began communication via DMs that the duo started getting to know each other better. However, as fate would have it, both of them had to stay away from each other as Anu had to pack his bags and go to India to pursue his masters. But the distance only made them stronger and cemented their relationship even further.

Wedding Venue
Envisioning a beach wedding, the couple’s first choice was Goa. But keeping the logistics of travel in mind for their guests who would be flying in, the duo settled for Mumbai and discovered The Resort Madh-Marve. With a glorious view of the Arabian Sea, this place was ideal for them as it kept away from the hustle and bustle of the city while reducing the travel time. Also, the luxurious rooms, efficient staff, and the lush greenery helped in sealing the deal.

Wedding Planning
With planner Doli Saja Ke Rakhna at the helm, each function went ahead smoothly and exceeded the duo’s expectations. On the photography front, KnotsbyAMP ensured that each click was worth a thousand words. The happy couple shares, “We spoke to at least half a dozen photographers and after a lot of careful research, we chose KnotsbyAMP. Honestly, we couldn’t have made a better choice! Their wedding films are so impressive, and they have the knack to capture the right moments so effortlessly. We shared an amazing camaraderie with the team from day one and their energy was infectious. Not once did they have a frown on their faces throughout the jam-packed proceedings. Thanks to their swift editing skills, we got to take a look at our wedding photos the very next day!”

Adding to the stellar team were makeup artists Pooja Dhakan who used her expertise to highlight the bride’s natural beauty. Invitation designer The Card Studio also put their best foot forward by creating unique designs that awed the invitees. Choreographer Sunil Nair was relentless in his pursuit of perfection and ensured not a beat was missed. Last but not the least, Vows and Bliss aced on the decor front by carefully looking into the smallest details to bring the newlyweds’ vision to life.

Weddings Functions

Haldi
After a quick lunch, a playful Haldi function ensued where the couple made a dashing entry surrounded by colorful smoke bombs. Replete with dhols, boliyan, and an ornate swing, the decor stuck to true tradition with its yellow and orange color palette.

Glowing under the afternoon sunshine in her orange embroidered lehenga, Saumya was all smiles as she took her seat beside Anu who donned a yellow kurta with a multicolored bandhgala.

Cocktail and Sangeet
A dazzling and boisterous affair, the sangeet/cocktail night had everyone up on their feet dancing to their heart’s content on the floor. With drinks flowing freely, everyone was in high spirits as Saumya and Anu along with their friends displayed their story in the form of a unique musical skit which was then followed by several dance performances.

For the glamorous occasion, Saumya chose a mint blue gown that allowed her to twirl freely with Anu who looked dashing in a navy blue and gold bandhgala.

Wedding
Held under the velvety dark sky by the Arabian Sea, the duo’s beachside wedding was a simple function dipped in culture and colors. Saumya made her way gracefully down the aisle towards Anu under the phoolon ki chaddar supported by her brothers amongst whom was the famed Bollywood director Nitesh Tiwari. Accompanying him was his wife, Ashwini Iyer Tiwari who is also a director.

For her big day, Saumya chose a yellow zari saree with a red embroidered dupatta which she accessorized with simple gold jewelry. Anu, taking a cue from his bride, also kept his outfit simple with a cream-colored bandhgala and red dhoti.

Advice For Couples
The couple advises, “Have a clear understanding of your budget and expectations. Also, remember, too many cooks spoil the broth. We were lucky to have supportive parents who let us make our own decisions from start to finish. Selecting the right vendors is also essential, and luckily, we had an amazing team that we could fall back on. Each vendor gave 200% of their energy to the wedding and made it a grand success!”
