Sejal Goyal and Shubham Kapoor, Festyn Palais, Amritsar
This couple’s chrome wedding mandap with delicate white floral decor raised the glamour stakes!
Sejal Goyal, a fashion stylist, and Shubham Kapoor’s wedding reflected their combined love for traditions and new-age aesthetics. Planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – The Wedding Darzi, the union was celebrated with a series of opulently themed events where everyone had a gala time.
Sonam Singhal and Praney Dawar from The Wedding Darzi share, “The pre-wedding functions started two weeks prior to the wedding for both families. The bride belongs to Amritsar and the groom belongs to Dehradun. After many brainstorming sessions and recces, Amritsar was chosen as the wedding destination for a winter wedding. For us, it was the first time we were orchestrating a wedding this grand in Amritsar, so it was initially a challenge working with an entire set of new vendors. However, after some time everything fell right into place and the celebrations went ahead smoothly.”
The celebrations kicked off with a Sufi Night where the families celebrated Jagoo – a Sikh ritual where the bride’s family stays up all night dancing with decorative pots on their heads. Sonam shares, “The couple and their close family members entered the venue in a truck atop which they were all dancing. A DJ and a live band accompanied them which ensured that it was a highly energetic entrance. However, the bride stole the show with her surprise performance!”
With a pastel and boho theme, the mehndi was a fun celebration as the rest of the guests checked in on that very day. Praney shares, “It was a full house as guests from different parts of India had finally reached the wedding destination. The DJ and emcee made the celebration lively while everyone indulged themselves at the live chaat stall. The pastel and boho theme with its subtle colors and macrame dreamcatchers looked amazing under the sunshine by the pool.”
Sonam shares, “The theme was ‘keep it classy’. Everyone turned up in their best suits and indo-western gowns. The couple made a grand entry flanked by dancers clad in white costumes while a live band ensured that the dancefloor was full till the wee hours of the morning. The celebrations kicked off with the bride and groom exchanging rings on stage and later on, their loved ones grooved on stage to celebrate their love.”
Eschewing the usual all-yellow haldi, the couple opted for a blue, yellow and white-hued haldi hosted on one of the venue’s spacious lawns. Entering atop an ATV with colour bombs welcoming them, the couple made a dashing entry. Praney shares, “Overall, the decor had a very laid-back vibe and encouraged everyone to let their hair down and have fun. Geometric patterns in shades of blue were extensively used throughout the venue and it made for a stunning contrast against the yellow outfits of everyone. The rain did play spoilsport for a bit but everyone was back in action once it subsided.”
Combining the best of regal and modern elements, the couple’s wedding was a grand one. The groom and his baraat entered with a vintage car and the venue was adorned with pastel blooms. A chrome wedding mandap was the highlight of the evening with vintage arches that were draped with garlands of jasmine. Luxurious chandeliers, red drapes, a new-age neon bar and vintage wooden furnishings made the couple’s big day a stunning one.
