Wedding Planning
Deepika Shetty from The Best Day Ever shares the brief that she received from the couple and how they went about executing the celebrations, “When the couple contacted us initially, the idea was to have a carnival/Indian flea market themed Sangeet night, a bohemian party to follow and a very Indian Wedding combining both their cultures. They were open to ideas from day one and gave our creativity complete liberty. Another request they made was to minimize the use of plastic and be as sustainable and eco-friendly in the decor department as possible. Since we are highly conscious of the environment and always try to make each wedding sustainable, we gladly catered to their request. Consequently, keeping all these pointers in mind, we went ahead and enhanced the natural setting of each venue while keeping it in sync with the selected theme. The fun and modern side of the couple was accentuated by several traditional aspects that left the elders pleased. Every event was fresh, elegant, minimal, bespoke and sported a vibrant decor.”

Sangeet
Deepika shares, “Due to the pandemic, the venue for the Sangeet was a beautiful South Indian styled bungalow named ‘Villa Kasu’. To accommodate the venue change and the unpredictable weather, we brainstormed on a couple of themes before settling on a color pop and tropical theme. With the evening event lit up with plenty of lights and colored palm leaves decorating the venues, it was as if the guests were transported to a different world as they danced the evening away!”

Brunch and Sundowner Party
The bride shares, “The next event was a Brunch to Sundowner party. We decided to go for a bohemian and color blast theme that included plush carpets and vintage furnishings like wooden sofas, chairs and benches along with earthy cane furniture. Additionally, the decor was kept minimal yet vibrant with pom-poms, teepees and sustainable cane baskets.”

Wedding
Giving us an overview of the wedding decor, Deepika shares, “We combined Tamil and Marwari influences in the decor. The design was conceptualized with the aim of fusing yellow marigolds with brighter-hued blooms like roses, lotuses and oleanders. Fragrant jasmines were also a part of the decor while the whimsical jute and chiffon drapes were eco-friendly.”

Shivani shares, “The baaratis danced into the wedding venue wearing teal pagdis while Chirag made a stylish entry on a 70’s style bike with a sidecar attached to it! For my own entry, I stayed in sync with tradition and walked down the aisle under a phoolon ki chadar. Several Tamil, as well as Marwari rituals, were followed at the wedding like washing the groom’s feet, my brother leading Chirag down the aisle with an umbrella over his head and Chirag’s shoes being stolen by my sisters.”

Barbeque Party
Shivani shares, “For the very last day, we hosted a Barbeque party that consisted of delicious grilled food, tap beer and cocktails. Groovy music ensured that everyone shook a leg as they helped themselves to all the goodies. Overall it was an extremely laid-back vibe as the decor was kept minimal and easily adhered to our personal style. Best Day Ever by Deepika Shetty’s clever use of cinnamon and citrusy elements in the decor accentuated the upbeat vibe!”
