How We Met
“Vishal and I first met at a business meeting. He says it was love at first sight for him! We kept in touch, and he pursued me very subtly. I could’ve never guessed that he was into me! Then, one day we started talking, and our conversation went on for hours. That turned into full days of us talking, and I had never felt more comfortable with anyone. He felt like home!”

Proposal
“Vishal proposed to me twice! Once with a promise ring and the second time with my actual engagement ring. We were near the Golden Gate bridge at a very scenic spot, and I was obsessively taking pictures like I always do. He asked, ‘Why don’t you take a 360-degree video?’ So I did that, and when I I turned around, I saw him down on his knee, with the ring! I was excited not only because of what had just happened but also because I had it on video! I jumped and hugged him and of course, said ‘Yes!’ – but sadly, lost the video. Because he understands me well, he knew I wanted the recording so very badly (not for social media but us). Therefore he planned another proposal. This time it was at his home office. When I returned from a trip, he was waiting there with his camera rolling. He asked me to marry him once again and slipped a gorgeous ring on my finger. The video too was beautiful and gets me emotional every time I watch it!”

Wedding Venue
“We had two big functions with approximately 1,000 people at the Renaissance Lucknow Hotel. Our haldi and mehndi ceremonies took place at my home in Lucknow.”

Wedding Planning
“Naina and Nishtha Tuteja from Heavenly Marriages and Shamsi Decorators who took care of the floral arrangements and decor for just about everyone in my family saved my life by stepping in two to three weeks before the wedding. I booked Shutterdown for photography and cinematography as well as Makker Studio. Ajay Morya from Body Cure and Care was my make-up artist for both functions. My wedding card was designed by my mother and her best friends and was based on the concept of the ‘Tree of Life.’ Along with the wedding cards, we sent out a plant, an aroma diffuser with essential oils and majdool dates on a beautiful tray that read ‘Shrishti weds Vishal’. I also cannot thank the hotel staff at Renaissance Lucknow Hotel enough, who ensured that every guest felt welcomed and looked after. My jewellery was from Harsahaimal Shiamlal and Aishpra. I have to thank Ankur and Kanupriya Anand (from Harsahaimal Shiamlal) as well as Umang (from Aishpra) for helping me till the very end. I underestimated the effort that goes into organizing a wedding, but I’m so blessed to have the most wonderful parents, a darling brother and a great extended family who helped me navigate the entire journey. I feel that the time you spend with your parents planning your wedding is so incredibly special! You get consumed and overwhelmed with the countless emotions and unconditional love. It got us closer than ever before – and I wish that for everyone.”

Wedding Functions

Engagement
“Since our engagement was a night function and the wedding was to be held the next morning at the same venue, we couldn’t change a lot of the decor. So we innovated and played with colors. For our engagement, white and yellow dominated the setup. We had a large canopy with a massive cluster of birdcages and other golden elements with fairy lights within them along with several glass pieces and chandeliers. We exchanged our rings against a large backdrop covered in white and red flowers while a green backdrop with framed mirrors and our wedding hashtag made for our photo booth. For this function, I wore a Manish Malhotra gown and Vishal wore a Corneliani suit.”

Wedding
“We added lots of shades of pink into the wedding setup. I wanted to ensure that there were enough picturesque backdrops, and Naina and Nishtha made sure of that. Even though it was the same venue, it looked and felt completely different on both the days. As per our wedding week, it was sort of a crazy never-ending dance-off because we were just dancing for hours every single day. And thank God the weather was on our side – It was pleasant and breezy on both the functions! I guess, nature too wanted to celebrate our love with us. I opted for a pink lehenga by Shyamal & Bhumika for this function, while Vishal wore an outfit by Raghavendra Rathore.”

Advice for Couples
“Marry for the right reasons. Marry for love. The magic isn’t in getting married but in staying married. Don’t rush into things, don’t obsess over what others are doing, don’t compare – do whatever works for you as a couple. Lastly, don’t forget to enjoy every minute of it! During our two functions, the weather was amazing, but it was extremely windy, so the chandeliers were breaking during my entry, fabric and flowers were flying around and the cake was almost about to collapse – these things were absolutely out of control, but I couldn’t have cared less because I was marrying the love of my life!”
