How We Met
Shweta and Arjun were introduced to each other at a social event by a common friend. They quickly developed a friendship of their own but love only happened when Arjun mentioned he was looking for a vintage phonograph and Shweta sourced one for him. It became the gift that kept on giving because it was the start of their romance.
Proposal
Arjun proposed to Shweta on vacation in the City of Love, Paris. Against the panoramic views that the Eiffel Tower affords, he asked her if she would spend the rest of her life with him and she said yes!
Wedding Venue
The couple wanted to host a destination wedding fit for royalty. On their list was intimacy and an unusual location. Laxmi Niwas Palace in the city of Bikaner was perfect. Not only does the beautiful heritage property have a regal vibe but it also accommodated all their friends and family with ease.
Wedding Planning
Arjun and Shweta chose The Wedding Designers as their wedding planners. Arjun says, “After rounds and rounds of discussions with family and friends, we finally decided the date on which we’d be married. But this was only the beginning. While we were quite sure about the kind of wedding we wanted, we didn’t imagine finding a wedding planner would be tough. We couldn’t have been more wrong!” The couple met more than ten wedding planners and didn’t like a single one. But then, luck struck, “Rishi and Yamini from The Wedding Designers were godsend. It literally took us ten minutes to decide that they would be the ones who would make our wedding come alive. And in hindsight, apart from the decision to get married, it was probably the best decision we ever took!”
The couple were struck by how passionate, creative and helpful Rishi and Yamini are but, the groom says, “Most importantly they are two of the nicest people you can hope to meet. To have these two plan the most important day of our lives was a privilege. From the many iterations of the wedding concepts to sourcing the vendors and to even keeping up with our 4 AM ideas, Rishi and Yamini aced it all. And during the wedding, when you almost expect some things to fall apart, everything – and we mean everything – went according to plan. We still don’t know how they managed it but what we do know is that we consider ourselves very fortunate that Rishi and Yamini were there to oversee every detail of our wedding because it truly gave us that rare opportunity – as the groom and bride – to just take a back seat and enjoy our wedding.”
Wedding Functions
Mehndi
The duo’s mehndi took place in the courtyard of The Laxmi Niwas Palace, Bikaner where yellow and gold accents set a festive mood. Fabric in these colors created a ceiling and fresh marigolds added a traditional flavor to the decor. Local folk artists added to the cheer with their kachchhi ghodi, ghoomar, and matki dance performances. The sparkling fountain in the center of the space filled the atmosphere with pleasing sounds and added to the aesthetic appeal.
Sangeet
For the sangeet, The Wedding Designers created a grand stage set against the unique red sandstone latticework of the palace. An abundance of flowers and glowing gold jaali lanterns added an ethereal touch to the evening. While the decor was truly mesmerizing, the highlight of the sangeet was Shweta’s surprise performance for Arjun to a Haryanvi number that left him stunned.
Wedding
The imposing façade of the palace made for the backdrop of the mandap on the day of the wedding. White and crimson drapes and fresh tuberoses, jasmine and red roses brought a delicate sense of serenity and sanctity to the overall aesthetic. The flowers filled the air with sweet perfume and set the tone and mood to magic.
