After a six and a half years love story, this couple finally tied the knot in a beautiful wedding just like they imagined.

Somi and Yash waited a long time for their love story to reach it’s ‘happily ever after’ and it finally did at Mayfair Lake Resort, Raipur as they took vows to be each other’s for life. Their union was tastefully captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – Ombre by Harsheen Jammu and the pictures perfectly express the joy the couple felt. Here are a few highlights from the wedding below.

How They Met
Somi and Yash met when they were both in college. Their love story started with a rose and then quickly blossomed into an affair that withstood the test of time and societal restrictions. As an inter-caste couple, both of them had to work hard at convincing their families but they somehow managed to convert their shared dream into a reality and brought together the perfect Jain-Punjabi wedding.

Wedding Planning
The couple took their ‘musical pheras’ on the lakeside under a multi-hued canopy created by Kishore Manraja and his team. Each ceremony had a theme to it with the cocktail having a ‘punjabi’ theme, haldi with a ‘poolside resort’ theme, sangeet with a ‘bollywood award night theme’, the after-party with a ‘midnight madness’ theme and lastly, the reception with a ‘palatial’ theme. The key attraction for the last event was a team of sitarists who entertained the guests and gave the reception a regal vibe with their mellifluous performance. A wedding magazine with the highlights of the wedding and a box of Dadus’ sweets from Hyderabad was delivered to each guest while they checked out. The couple chose Harsheen of Ombre by Harsheen Jammu who captured priceless candid moments from the wedding into beautiful frames and motion that were played at the reception leaving everyone in awe. In Somi’s opinion, for every bride, getting a good make-up artist is very essential. She shares, “For my makeup, I hit the jackpot with Makeup Artists Meenakshi and Anushree Tutreja who made sure I looked great. I would definitely recommend them to any bride who is looking to strike the perfect bridal look.”

Mehndi
For the mehndi, Somi decided to keep things fresh yet glam by choosing a sequined mint-green lehenga that she paired with a multicolored choker and a layered pearl-kundan necklace. With the words ‘Somi Ki Mehndi’ in a floral wreath serving as a backdrop, the bride was all smiles as she danced with her family. The decor had a ‘kite’ theme with colorful, foil kites hanging from the ceiling and reflecting every light in the room. Somi also danced a solo number in which she was later joined by friends.

Haldi
The Haldi was a joyous occasion for which Somi picked a deep yellow sequined sari with a velvet blouse while Yash matched her with a simple kurta. Accessorizing her sari were an ornate choker, earrings and a maang tikka studded with red gemstones that completed the look. To keep her outfit in place as she danced away, she wore a Sabyasachi buckled belt. The ceremony followed a ‘poolside resort’ theme and was filled to the brim with happy smiles.

Wedding
In contrast to all her other outfits, Somi chose a heavy, embroidered white lehenga sported by Jain brides. To add a pop of color, she donned a bright pink dupatta with delicate zari embroidered borders creating a gorgeous picture. Adding more character to this look, were the customary bright red chooras, a pearl choker, matching emerald-kundan maang tikka and necklace. Yash, on the other hand, donned a peach colored turban that accentuated his sherwani. To show their support for the groom his friends wore coordinated blue sherwanis. The couple took their pheras under a colorful, pastel canopy on the lakeside and the bride made an unforgettable entrance under a red and white ‘phoolon ki chadar’.
