Sonakshi and Akshay, New Delhi
Vintage suggestion boxes for marriage advice for the couple lent a unique, heartfelt touch to the wedding.
Sonakshi Arora and Akshay Narula’s whirlwind romance bloomed into a commitment for life with an intimate yet splendorous celebration at Vivanta New Delhi, Dwarka. The bride shared her journey of love with us, giving us a glimpse of their beautiful story and wedding celebrations.
How they met
Sonakshi Arora, a transplanted Mumbaikar and an Actuary by Profession met Mumbai-based entrepreneur Akshay Narula through a marriage portal. “It was an unusual move in today’s day of Tinder and Hinge, and it was definitely not “love at first sight”. Our first date in fact wasn’t off to a great start either. But then again, a rocky start is what generally makes a love story great”, she laughs. “As we met frequently and talked more, we felt a deep-rooted connection. We bonded over our love for traveling, exquisite cuisines and shopping. Coffee dates evolved into romantic sea-facing walks, lovely dinners, non-stop banter, and before we knew it, we were in love.”
The couple envisioned a venue that gave them the grandeur of a destination wedding while factoring in all necessary COVID precautions which they found in the Vivanta New Delhi, Dwarka. Their luxurious rooms, lovely indoor and outdoor event spaces not to mention impeccable hospitality and stringent health with all safety measures in place, made it the perfect location.
After substantial online research, the couple chose Dream Parade Events to bring their décor vision to life, while the team of HM Creations captured their moments in flawless frames. They opted for custom made outfits for their functions. Choreographer Alex put together their impressive dance performances, while entertainer Sameer Dutt had everyone grooving to his tunes.
The festivities kicked off with a black-tie Sangeet and Engagement ceremony on the first night. From unconventional centerpieces to a spectacular entrance, the evening exuded grandeur, and included musical entertainment, dance performances and a memorable ring ceremony. Sonakshi dazzled in a sequined midnight blue lehenga while Akshay looked dapper in a tuxedo.
The next day began with a vibrant haldi ruled by beautiful red and yellow décor where the couple’s families doused them with turmeric paste. The bride wore an elegant mustard and red printed saree with floral jewellery while the groom donned a yellow kurta.
The beguiling poolside wedding saw a tranquil décor of pastel hues and flowers that looked enchanting against the lush green surroundings. The gorgeous pastel green mandap decked with a floral canopy included a backdrop of Lord Ganesha, instilling a sense of auspicious serenity into the ambience as the couple tied the knot. Their coordinated blush pink ensembles perfectly complemented the décor. As a fun element, the wedding had two boxes for Sonakshi and Akshay for guests to drop marriage advice in, a heartfelt yet humorous addition.
