Srishti and Amit, Chateau Le Jardin, Vaughan

Srishti and Amit’s story of how they met will make you believe in destiny.

Amit and Srishti met in University but neither anticipated the lifelong bond in store. Call it fate or destiny, but it took a string of serendipitous moments for them to realize they were meant to be. A friendship that turned into true love – their wedding was a wonderful celebration of love, color and culture.

How We Met
We met in 2009 at the University of Toronto where we sat next to each other for one full year. I moved to another University the next year and we lost touch. But, the following year, we crossed paths on many occasions; at local coffee shops, the gym, the mall, etc. only to realize we lived one street apart. In 2012, Amit started his first job and while signing his contract, saw my resume with the Hiring Manager. All the signs were slowly adding up. A few months later, I began working for the same company and we began to realize the meaning of all those coincidences.

Proposal
Amit proposed to me in San Francisco by the Golden Gate Bridge in 2016. He put so much thought into it and even had a photographer capture those moments. I was elated and it didn’t take me a second to say yes.

Wedding Venue
Our wedding took place at the Chateau Le Jardin at Vaughan. The sprawling venue features beautiful architecture and intricate design. Built to emulate a French castle, the banquet looks straight out of a period drama. I fell in love the minute I saw it and knew that this was where I wanted to celebrate my big day.

Wedding Functions

Sangeet
The colors at our sangeet were drawn from a bright, ethnic palette. Onstage, a large Indian swing was suspended with drapes in shades of red and orange behind. We added large paisley elements and hung colorful kitschy umbrellas from the ceiling. We were so happy to be in the company of our loved ones and as a token of appreciation we put up a huge table full of favors like chunnis, bindis, bangles and bow ties.

Wedding
For our wedding, the venue was bathed in a golden glow highlighted with a few red accents. Intricately designed panels, floor length curtains, flower arrangements and lanterns decorated the space. We wanted to make sure that the decor did not clash with our clothes, so I wore a red lehenga while Amit stuck to a beige sherwani.

Reception
I wore a gown in old rose to the reception. Amit was dressed in a black suit and a black bow-tie. White was the predominant color at the function. No color exhibits as much elegance and we created a classy setup, matching the pristine color with crystal chandeliers and flowers. The evening was filled with fun activities and made memorable by tons of mischief.
