Sunil and Balpreet, Singapore

Sunil and Balpreet’s grand wedding in Singapore was a marriage of opulence and enchantment.

When you know, you know. It took Sunil and Balpreet only a few dates to decide to get married and spend the rest of their lives together. Here, bride Balpreet shares some highlights from their nuptials, planned carefully in collaboration with WeddingSutra Favorite, I Do by Impressario

How we met
“We met at a bar. No surprises there – we’re both extroverts who love going out. My youngest brother introduced us and urged me to go on a date with Sunil. I sat there wondering which century I was in, being set up on a date like this. But I was wrong. It was the most heartfelt connection I’ve ever had on a first date. I think Sunil felt the same way. Things just began to flow with us and we just sort of knew we were meant for each other.”

Proposal
“One rainy Wednesday evening, Sunil told me his supplier was hosting a work cocktail party at a bar called One Altitude and significant others were invited. I’m of course, always game to go out but as I approached the venue, I felt a knot in my stomach. It was inexplicable but I had an intuition that something else was about to happen. My sister-in-law with me was trying to act all normal but she knew what was planned. We took the elevator to level 61, sat down and sipped our drinks enjoying the views of Singapore.

My sis-in-law excused herself to go to the bathroom and I was asked to move to a different seat. I followed the waiter and as I walked in, I saw Sunil standing there with a bouquet of red roses. He kissed me on the cheek, went down on one knee…. We were both shaking with nervousness, smiling from ear to ear. I barely could hear what he was saying, and I just said yes! It was so overwhelming but I would not have it any other way!

We popped the champagne and both our families joined us. Being on level 61, stunning views, beautiful ring and being surrounded by family, was the best proposal ever!”

Wedding Venue
“My parents wanted to host a function at home, so we had our mehndi there. It was truly wonderful. Team I Do by Impressario organized and decorated everything beautifully.

Our sangeet was held at The Clifford Pier in The Fullerton Bay Hotel. I chose the venue for its elegance and stunning views. Sunil and I always loved the layout and high ceilings.

The wedding was at the Central Sikh Gurdwara. We decided to have minimal decorations in the gurdwara and truly enjoy the essence and beauty of the structure as it is.

We hosted our reception at Resorts World Sentosa which we chose because it could accommodate our 1000 guests.”

Wedding Planning
“I honestly do not know what I would have done without I Do by Impressario! We had a week’s worth of celebrations, different venues, different styles, different ceremonies and over a 1,000 guests. We don’t have a single complaint, only much praise for how well the wedding was organized. I cannot thank Satish and his team enough for their patience and guidance. They were always there when we needed them and knew exactly how to resolve any difficulties. Satish was kind, understanding, lending an ear to the concerns of the families but always prioritizing the couple’s needs. He also worked around our budget, which was excellent. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to hire an event planner for their big day!”

Sangeet
The Sangeet took place at The Clifford Pier in The Fullerton Bay Hotel. Balpreet shares, “For my sangeet, we wanted shades of green so when I saw a yellow lehenga at Charmi Creations, I asked them to pair it up with something green. Their unique creation turned out gorgeous! I Do by Impressario really impressed us with their colorful décor. The entire venue looked gorgeous and was a perfect rendition of the Rajasthani theme.”

Wedding
“We decided on lots of flowers as it symbolizes the purity of a couple. We wanted a royal traditional look for our wedding, so we chose red and royal blue as our colors.” The wedding took place at the Central Sikh Gurdwara with minimalistic additional decoration in honor of the essential sanctity and beauty of this place.

Reception
“Our reception was held at the Resorts World Sentosa. We have lots of relatives coming in from overseas so we thought it would be cool to put them up on Sentosa Island.

The theme was Midnight Shimmers – all glitter and glamor. The reception was like a concert with an amazing sound system and lights. We did not emphasize too much on the ballroom as we wanted to stick to our budget and enjoy the aesthetics of the venue on its own. For this evening, I went totally out of my comfort zone in terms of color and look. I had a lehenga turned into a dress. It was sparkly, stunning and most importantly, very comfortable. It was well within our budget and I loved that the design was handmade in Mumbai.”
