How They Met
Tanya shares, “We actually met through an arranged marriage setup. My parents were looking for a suitable life partner very casually for me. We first met with our families and the day after we went on a lunch date and ended up spending four hours together, just talking. It didn’t feel like we were on a first date. It just clicked.”

The Proposal
Tanya shares, “We had our roka in July and had our engagement function planned in October. I wasn’t expecting a proposal but Siddharth had planned a surprise for me just 2-3 days before our grand engagement function! He took me to a well-known park and set up a cabana with our private table with a candle-lit path scattered with rose petals. What followed was the dreamiest proposal ever!”

Wedding Venue
Recollecting their process when it came to finding a suitable venue, Tanya shares, “We actually saw so many places right from Agra to Jaipur. My family was more inclined to have a destination wedding but we weren’t able to find a venue that had enough rooms or big enough courtyards and banquets to accommodate all our family and friends. Finally, after months of searching, we came across Andaz Delhi, a luxury lifestyle hotel by Hyatt. The location was just perfect, the hospitality impeccable and most of all, they were pet friendly!
The staff was so accommodating and welcoming. When you’re at this venue it doesn’t even feel like you’re in Delhi.”

Engagement
Sleek and modern, the ring exchange ceremony witnessed a mix of new-age elements as well as traditional ones as the elders gathered around the couple to bless them. Decorated with a color palette of silver, white and green – the event consisted of a central seating area where the bride and groom received gifts from their loved ones.

Haldi and Mehndi
Tanya shares, “Our haldi mehendi event had a multicolour theme. Instead of the traditional haldi we had a phoolon ki haldi where everyone had a blast showering us with flower petals. Fresh fruits, brass lanterns and colourful tropical leaves made the event extremely fun!”

Cocktail
Tanya shares, “For the sangeet and cocktail, we decided to amp up the glamour levels. We took a cue from red carpet events and decided to give the evening abundant starry lights which automatically put everyone in the mood to party. And, everyone partied hard till six in the evening!”

Bhaat
Minimalistically decorated, both, the bride and the groom’s side, had a bhaat ceremony. While at Tanya’s ceremony, a wall filled with sunflowers and foliage decorated the venue, Siddharth’s ceremony the decor was dominated by an LED backdrop and pastel blooms.

Gaur Pooja
A solemn ritual where everyone prays to Goddess Parvati to bless the union, the Gaur Pooja was a quiet event. However, it did come with a dash of relaxation as the elders were treated to impromptu massages on massage chairs placed thoughtfully by the wedding squad.

Wedding and Reception
Tanya, “I’ve always wanted a regal wedding, without a doubt. So, on my big day, we went all out with scarlet roses, jasmine, pink furnishings, peach drapes and foliage. The mandap consisted of suspended blooms that added a dash of serenity to the proceedings.”

After the regal wedding, everyone proceeded to the reception where they were greeted with varying hues of red and gold. Vintage chandeliers and old-school jharokas tied back beautifully with the wedding’s regal theme.

Advice For Couples
Sharing a few tips that she’s learnt over the course of prepping for her own wedding, Tanya shares,
“1. For all the brides, if you have a winter wedding make sure you have a small heater for your hands & feet while getting your mehendi done.
2. Always always try on your outfits a few days before the big day, especially the designer ones!
3. Just enjoy the process! I know it sounds very easy to say but trust me you’ll never get these days back and they’re just so exciting. Take out time for one another, go on dates and let yourself be filled with joy.”
