How We Met
“Anush and I met in 2004 in law school. But I got the chance to speak one-on-one to him only when we went out together in a group. As luck would have it, we ended up sharing an autorickshaw and that was the start of our friendship. A few months later, he confessed that he had a crush on me. We were really young then so I was a bit skeptical and told him that we should just remain friends. However, 10 years later, we happened to meet again! We dated for a few months and then decided to get married!”

Wedding Planning
“We wanted our wedding to reflect a beautiful union of two cultures at each function. It turned out to be a fantastic get-together of sorts where all our family members and loved ones could just relax, enjoy and reminisce about the celebrations with a smile. After a lot of research for suitable locations, we zeroed down on Amaanta Farms in New Delhi for the wedding, and the Le Meridien hotel for the sangeet. My mother played a huge role in making this dream wedding a reality for both of us.”

Mehndi & Haldi
“My mehndi celebrations were a fun prelude to my impending wedding ceremony. It was hosted at the poolside of the Le Meridien New Delhi which proved to be the perfect venue for this colorful function. Our décor comprised of neon marigold flowers, quirky rickshaws and an equally crazy bar setup, that gave a cool vibe to the event. I wanted my mehndi attire to be easy and flowing, so I chose a beautiful pastel lavender crop top with threadwork embellishments and a yellow lehenga by Vineti Bolaki, and paired it with a thick ‘maang tikka’ (forehead ornament) and earrings. Our mehndi function slowly transitioned into a ‘no holds barred’ sangeet night where foot-thumping Indian and international songs were enjoyed by all.”

Wedding
“I was very particular about my wedding trousseau, and makeup, and was definite about the look I wanted for my special day. The red Sabyasachi Mukherjee lehenga with beautiful golden motifs across the skirt and blouse was a winner for me and was an easy choice. It had light pink dual dupattas, one draped over my head, and the other across me like a sash. My makeup artist, Gurusewak Singh understood my minimalistic tastes and crafted a flawless makeup look which exuded elegance and charm. My Kundan necklace and the thick ‘mathha patti’ (forehead band) is what gave my entire look a regal touch. The decor for this function was chic and simple. The multiple majestic illuminated tents with red and white drapes, matching floral arrangements on top of every table and the center stage with its pillar of flowers added a fairytale touch to the ambiance. The floral chandeliers that were hung from the ceiling made for a picture-perfect sight. The indoor mandap was set up under ceiling drapes and festooned with garlands of flowers from all four sides.” Anush wore a stylish white sherwani with golden accents such as banded cuffs, embroidered collars and a beige ‘safa’ (turban).
