Udit and Saailee, Taj Lands End, Mumbai
After a proposal aboard a yacht in Dubai, Udit and Saailee created waves with their rocking wedding in Mumbai.
Saailee and Udit, founder of Hops Cork – Chain of liquor Stores in Mumbai, celebrated their love by tying the knot in November this year, at the lovely sea-facing hotel Taj Lands End in Mumbai. They entrusted two WeddingSutra Favorites to bring their dream wedding to reality; the planning, conceptualising and designing of the functions was put in the hands of Castles and Coasters, and the stupendous decor was executed by Vivaah Wedding Décor Stylist. The memorable moments from the heady celebrations were skillfully captured by yet another WeddingSutra Favorite – Israni Photography.
How They Met
The couple met in 2014 through mutual friends at an Armin concert, and instantly felt a connection. Saailee took the initiative to approach him first and the two spent the entire evening conversing. However, it took Udit nine months to get a first formal date with her, and from there on, there was no looking back.
Udit planned a wonderful proposal for Saailee on a yacht in Dubai. The space aboard was decorated with endearing photos of the couple, beautiful floral bouquets, a bottle of chamoau, and a gorgeous ring. Udit left no stone unturned in his quest to pull off a proposal of her dreams, and Saailee’s response was a delighted “Yes!”, after all he had pulled out all the stops for a memorable proposal.
The Mumbai-based couple chose to host a city wedding with scintillating views of the Arabian Sea. The mehndi function was organized at the gorgeous sea-facing Blue Sea Banquet in South Mumbai, while the other wedding functions took place in various spaces of the Taj Lands End, Mumbai.
Udit and Saailee’s wedding lived up to the essence of a big, fabulous, Indian wedding. Vivaah Wedding Décor Stylist executed the stunning decor for the sangeet and wedding and Creative Concepts for the mehndi while Castles and Coasters planned and managed all the festivities. Veena Nagda decorated the bride’s hands with gorgeous henna, and the wedding favors were curated by Wedding Lounge. The action and special moments were captured in stunning frames by Israni Photography.
The festivities kicked off with a pre-wedding party hosted by the couple and their friends at the Rocky Star Cocktail Bar. The evening was themed on the decadence of the Prohibition Era of the 1920s, when the cocncept of hidden bars were popular. In homage to that the entrance to the party featured a hidden bar where from where hands holding shots came out to serve guests a welcome drink, adding an exciting element to the evening. Udit, who is the founder of HopsCork, had a special surprise brewed for the guests. As part of the sangeet or ‘The Wedding Party,” a customized barrel of Jack Daniel’s Whisky called the ‘The Love Story Edition’ was ordered as premium gifts for a few selected guests. Udit and Saailee are one of the first couples in India to take wedding personalization to the next level. Chirag Jethwaney International Magician & Mentalist blew the guests’ mind with his magical tricks.
After an intimate ‘mata ki chowki,’ the merry mehndi celebrations were held at the sea-facing Blue Sea Banquet in Worli. The decor executed by Creative Concepts was quirky, chic and colorful. Udit wore a sea-green kurta set with a matching bandi jacket by Arjun Kilachand, while Saailee looked charming in an alluring cobalt blue lehenga by Aisha Rao.
The sangeet festivities were designed on the theme of La Soiree Magique with glitzy hues of silver and midnight blue, and took place in the grand ballroom of the Taj Lands End.The highlight of the evening was the spectacular bar with rotating disco balls. The groom opted for a Kunal Rawal creation, while the bride wore a glamorous silver ensemble by Manish Malhotra .
The final day began with a haldi ceremony in the garden view room of Taj Lands End. The decor, as well as the dress code, was centered around citrus hues, and the festivities included a vibrant burst of sunny hues. The bride wore a creation by Yashodhara, while the groom looked dapper in a bespoke outfit by HP Su Misura.
Wedding and Reception
The wedding festivities unfolded on the poolside lawns of Taj Lands End, Mumbai which overlooked the crashing waves of the Bandstand area. The decor palette was a pleasing combination of pastels that looked heavenly on the lawns. The couple looked regal in their gorgeous ensembles by Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
