Urvi and Amar, The Leela Palace Udaipur
An elegant sangeet, a mirror work wedding mandap and a blue pottery-inspired Haldi - this destination wedding pulled all the stops with its design themes.
Striking a perfect balance between traditional Indian and contemporary elements, Urvi and Amar’s destination wedding was a grand celebration. Planned and designed by WeddingSutra Favorite – Iskra Events and Celebrations, this union used vivid colours and took cues from the local culture to elevate its design story!
Wedding Planning
Birju Gariba and Sunaina Singh from Iskra Events and Celebrations team share, “As planners and designers, the difficult part was negotiating via the different time zones. We had to carefully find our way through the maze of suggestions and ideas and ensure that everything was just perfect. The coordination had to go exactly as planned. Many guests were travelling from the United Kingdom for the NRI wedding and the responsibility of making them feel comfortable was something we were accountable for.”
Wedding Functions
Ganesh Sthapna
The festivities kicked off with a Ganesh Staphna – a ritual where prayers are offered to Lord Ganesha to bless the union. Owing to the auspicious nature of the event, the decor consisted of a variety of floral elements. Birju shares, “We created a floral paradise. And instead of using the highly vibrant hues one usually sees at weddings, we used pastel colours in the floral setups so that they don’t overpower the senses.”
Sangeet
After the quiet Ganesh Staphna, the couple along with their families gave glamour a leg-up with a stunning sangeet. High on energy with live performances and graceful moves – the sangeet combined all things elegant and sophisticated in the decor. White blooms, sequins, gold cocktail glasses and a monochrome colour palette made it an event to remember.
Haldi
Sunaina shares, “Since we were in Rajasthan, we took a cue from its local art and added a dash of blue to the yellow floral decor. Hosted by the pool, the blue and yellow decor complemented the venue and looked unique!”
Wedding
Birju shares, “The wedding mandap was nothing short of a piece of art! It was crafted with mirror work and included diyas. Larger-than-life installations added to the glamour while luxurious furnishings and crystal chandeliers enhanced the opulence of the wedding. In short, it was a perfect combo of traditional and modern designs.”
