Our new series, ‘Featured Weddings’ will bring you up close and personal with nuptial events held at the finest venues across cities. Our third feature showcases snapshots from Vidhi and Abhinav’s intimate celebrations in beautiful Udaipur.

Vidhi, a textile designer and Abhinav, who runs a home furnishing and textiles company, met as 12th grade students in the same tuition class. “We dated for a few months, but broke up before he went to the UK and I to Philadelphia to complete our undergraduate degrees,” Vidhi reminisces. The two didn’t have much contact until nearly a decade later when their stars crossed movie-style. “I visited Bangalore and Abhinav randomly saw me standing outside a shop on his way to work. He contacted me through Facebook, and we started hanging out together again, and they rest as they say is history.” Or romantic serendipity!

Vidhi and Abhinav’s wedding festivities were held at Radisson Blu, Udaipur. The wedding ceremony took place at Chunda Palace. While they selected unique themes for each event, they preferred to keep the décor minimalist. Vidhi elaborates, “Both the venues in Udaipur were beautiful, with picturesque details. We didn’t want to overwhelm the architecture by adding too much.” So they went with simple features that would highlight the venue.

“For the Sufi music event, we just hung up a lot of lanterns and decided to have hookahs for our guests to enjoy. We had a Rajasthani theme for the mehendi, so there were puppets, parrot card-readers and traditional Rajasthani folk music and dancing,” Vidhi says. For the sangeet, the stage and lighting was elegant in its simplicity, “since it was in front of the Radisson Blu façade, which is beautiful as is.”

The couple chose a simple mandap and a mango and fuchsia theme for their wedding ceremony at Chunda Palace. “The view from the Chunda Palace terrace is breathtaking and we didn’t want to distract with lots of flowers or fabric.”

“Our final event, the main highlight Abhinav and I were most excited about, was a 5 minute film of all the wedding events that was edited on the same day and screened at our reception. The Candid Tales team jumped at the idea and did a great job editing all the footage with very little time!”
