Yanika and Amit’s wedding brought the ‘Spirit of Bali’ to London.
The exotic and mystical island of Bali inspired the mandap and décor at Yanika and Amit’s wedding. Meticulously planned and designed by WeddingSutra Favorite – Amore London, standout elements and the tropical and vibrant color palette gave life to every aspect of Yanika and Amit’s Balinese themed wedding. How we met
“We were introduced by family friends; our first date felt like we had been friends for years.” Destiny led them to love followed by their own wedding, held in London.
Pre-Wedding Shoot
We both love to travel and enjoy good food. We suggested to our team at The Amore Collection a pre-wedding photo and video shoot in Bali and they loved the idea. Urvashi at Amore London and Sandeep at Shaadi Videography love and know Bali very well and so got to work planning the entire two day shoot, in terms of locations, what I should wear etc.
The pre-wedding shoot in Bali was like a Bollywood movie. It was nothing like we would have imagined doing before. It took us completely out of our comfort zone but we loved it. It helped us grow as a couple and was an experience we will never forget. Shaadi Videography are known for pushing the creative boundaries, and having me stand high underneath a waterfall in a saree was exactly that!

“Our Hindu ceremony and reception took place on the same day, at the Intercontinental O2 hotel overlooking Canary Wharf and the London skyline. The venue is huge and Amore and their talented production and design team had a challenging task making it feel intimate.”

“As we had such an incredible pre-wedding shoot, Amore London suggested we incorporate the same into the theme of the big day. This is how ‘The Spirit of Bali’ was born. We loved the theme from the moment it was presented to us. We had life sized elephants that stood proudly next to our Balinese themed mandap and then took center stage in the midst of our custom made tikki bar at the reception. My bridesmaids entered with authentic Balinese prayer baskets with traditional offerings and Balinese incense. “
Reception
“We had traditional Balinese dancers and Gamelan musicians welcoming guests to the drinks reception and adding to the ambiance during dinner. Our dance floor had a beautiful traditional motif and our top table was a bespoke banquet seating 28 of our nearest and dearest, with each individual place setting personalized with the guest name and charger plate printed onto the table. As centerpieces we had a mix of tropical florals and Balinese parasols. The entire look was breathtaking and The Amore Collection did a wonderful job bringing it all together!
None of our guests knew that we had our pre-shoot whilst on holiday in Bali and what the theme of the wedding was going to be. We wanted to keep it all a surprise so that when guests walked into an otherwise very contemporary hotel they would be transported to the mystical East. The response to our Bali pre-wedding shoot was overwhelming.
Our wedding took place at the same time as an international football tournament at the renowned O2 Stadium. At the end of our reception, we all hit the Sky Bar at the hotel for an after party. Much to our delight so did the footballers! Getting to mix and mingle with Roberto Carlos, Luis Figo, and Steven Gerrard was definitely the icing on the cake on the most perfect wedding day.”
Advice for Couples
“Make it a day to remember by adding personal touches to each of your events. Make sure you tell the story about you as a couple through your wedding. There is nothing worse than seeing a tense bride and groom on their wedding day so just enjoy it and don’t stress!”
