This couple quenched their thirst for adventure with a picturesque honeymoon that had them driving across scenic New Zealand.
Kindergarten sweethearts, Akhil, and Juhi had no doubt in their minds when it came to planning their honeymoon. It just had to be New Zealand with the many adventures it has to offer. So, with a firm plan in mind to traverse across this stunning island country, the duo embarked on a journey that was replete with fun, romance, and electrifying thrills.
Honeymoon Planning
Juhi shares, “We always wanted more of an adventurous trip rather than a comfy, relaxing one. And the only destination that came to mind was New Zealand. We did consider Iceland and Finland for a bit but the fact that we wouldn’t be able to see the Northern Lights in January put us off.”
Honeymoon Highlights
“We were fortunate enough to have stayed in beautiful hotels throughout our trip. But there were three hotels that really stood out for us and they were – Regent of Rotorua Boutique Hotel, Braemar in Hanmer springs, and Oaks Queenstown Shores Resort.
At the Regent of Rotorua Boutique Hotel, we visited the famed Polynesian Spa and had a wonderful geothermal bathing experience that gave us exclusive access to the acidic and alkaline natural mineral springs. We had an incredible time with a leisurely soak in our luxurious private spa.
At Braemar in Hammer Springs, we were amazed by the minimalistic and beautiful interiors that soothed us instantly. Each room was designed exquisitely, with a breathtaking plateau view along with a private sauna tub that grants one an unlimited view of the lush greenery. In the end, we regretted not booking our room for a few more days!
Lastly, the Oaks Queenstown Shores Resort was an apartment hotel that had our heart from the first time we set foot inside it. With its rustic charm and spacious balconies, it brought us closer to nature and we spent many afternoons basking in the sunshine that fell on our balcony each day!”, recollects Juhi.
Best Meal of The Trip
“Since we’re vegetarian, we carried our own food packets. But we did try our hand at the local restaurants like Coriander Leaf, FergsBurger, and Bombay Palace Queenstown as by the fifteenth day we were craving Indian food!”, shares Juhi.
Most romantic moment
“There were many romantic moments, but I think we had a special moment that we both enjoyed at the Polynesian Spa where we got our own private tub where we enjoyed the lush nature that we were surrounded by.”, recollects Juhi.
Must-experience
“Anybody who loves adventure should at all costs try out the sports activities here. Trust me, you won’t regret it!”, advises Juhi.
