Alisha Murpani and Varun Advani – Spain
Alisha and Varun visited buzzing Barcelona, incredible Ibiza and magnificent Madrid during their honeymoon in Spain
Varun works in construction with his dad, handling a few projects on his own, and Alisha is a freelance wedding planner. Varun tells us how they met, “We met through a mutual friend and I fell in love with her but she wouldn’t agree to go out on a date with me. I suspected she wanted her parents approval. So a few months ago, I asked my parents to call her parents and surprise her with a proposal. Her parents agreed!” The couple tied the knot on the 31st of January, 2016 and traveled to Spain for a magical honeymoon. They tell us all about it here.
Honeymoon Highlights
“A honeymoon is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and Spain is really the perfect destination. We landed in vibrant Barcelona and checked into the Hotel Gran La Florida, in Tibidabo, the peak of Barcelona. The hotel has a reputation as being one of the best in Barcelona. What a breathtaking view! It had great service and a superb indoor pool – the atmosphere was so amazing we never felt like leaving the hotel.
Barcelona is one of those places where you figure how to get around the city in about 24 hours – it is convenient and the people are friendly, stylish and beautiful. The Barcelona tourist bus was a convenient way to see all the famous places in just two days! And the Metros are also very quick and easy to understand. We used both to explore the city.
We also loved walking the streets of La Rambla. The work of Gaudi was spectacular! Amongst the favourite tourist sites, we visited La Sagrada Familia, Casa Batllo, La Pedrera and Park Guell. We also went to Camp Nou at Barcelona Football Stadium for a guided tour that gave us the chance to walk through the most emblematic areas of the stadium.
Our next destination was Ibiza. Ibiza is the place for water sports, boat parties and being active 24 hours a day!
We checked into the Hard Rock Hotel at Playa d’en Bossa – a luxury hotel that combines fun with comfort. We attended an Opening Session by David Guetta – a party where it seemed like the whole of Ibiza attended. We were in love already! Then we went to a four-hour nonstop boat party, the craziest we have ever seen. My husband had a go at flyboarding which he loved.
Then we spent two days in Madrid where we stayed at The Principal Madrid – a lovely boutique hotel in the heart of the city. We went shopping in Puerta del Dol… Madrid is filled with museums but I have to admit, the shopping options there are really very good and we had time for not much else!
Memorable Meal
Spain is filled with tiny tapas bars so you can enjoy tapas with a drink. The crepes filled with Nutella and banana are to die for.
