How We Met
“Anshika and I got to know about each other through a common acquaintance, and just like any arranged marriage setup, our parents met first. Our first meeting took place at her home and surprisingly our conversations went on and on as if we had known each other for a long time. We instantly felt the connection between us and we were happy to spend the rest of our lives together. We got married in New Delhi.”

Honeymoon Planning
“Initially we were exploring options such as the US, Greece or Switzerland for our honeymoon, but after brainstorming about multiple destinations with Holiday Canvas we found that France and Italy would be a perfect fit for our tastes and preferences. We had a great time exploring the must-visit attractions in Paris. Nice and Monaco in the south of France were more sophisticated and stylish. One of the highlights of our honeymoon was enjoying the festive vibe of the Venetian Carnival – that was the icing on the cake! Holiday Canvas helped us plan this vacation of a lifetime beautifully and we highly recommend them to couples who want their honeymoon to be more than just a regular trip.”

Honeymoon Highlights

Paris
“We stayed at the Terrass Hotel in Paris. We loved taking in the stunning views of the Eiffel Tower and the urban landscape of the city from the hotel’s rooftop terrace. Since we were visiting Paris for the first time, we made it a point to visit all its major attractions. We went to the top of the Eiffel Tower, had a romantic dinner aboard the Bateaux Parisiens Cruise, relived our childhood days at Disneyland Paris and explored the streets of the buzzing city. We particularly liked Montmartre with its many restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops and local artists.”

South France
“We loved our stay at Hotel Le Negresco in Nice. The art collection there is exquisite and the room had eclectic French decor which was quite charming. The 30-minute drive from Nice to Eze, a beautiful and historic village on a hill, offered spectacular views of the bays from high above. Eze is such a lovely place that we wanted to stay there for as long as we could. There were lots of streets tucked into a cliff side which we enjoyed meandering through. We spotted cool cafes, interesting stores and the homes of the rich and famous on our way. It was great to see the Changing of the Guard ceremony at the Palace of Monaco. We also took time out to visit Oceanographic Museum. We got a taste of adventure by doing a lap around the Formula One Grand Prix circuit which was thrilling as you really get a real feel of the driver’s zooming through the lanes. The famous Monte Carlo Casino was amazing and we decided to do a little gambling there to try our luck. Just walking through the casino square made us feel like movie stars. It’s definitely a must-visit place.”

Italy: Venice
“We stayed at the Hotel Ai Cavalieri di Venezia which is a beautiful palazzo transformed into a wonderful hotel. Located off one of the canals, with its own dock, the lobby evoked old world Venetian charm. Apart from the must-see attractions in Venice, we explored the lovely islands of Murano, Burano, and Torcello which are famous for their glass blowing workshops and colorful houses. A private gondola ride through the canals of Venice was another memorable experience. It was spectacular to see St. Mark’s square during the Venetian Carnival where locals turn out dressed in beautiful carnival costumes and masquerade masks. If you are lucky, you can even click a picture with some of them.”

Best meal of the trip
“Dining options for pure vegetarians can be limited on an itinerary such as ours, but we really enjoyed pizzas and rocket salads on our honeymoon.”

Most romantic moment
“The romantic meal we had aboard the Bateaux Parisiens Dinner Cruise in Paris was amazing and we enjoyed the French cuisine, drinks and live music which just added to the overall ambiance of the cruise.”

Advice to other couples
“If you are planning to visit Disneyland Paris, make sure to check the weather conditions on that day as it might drizzle during winters.”

Must-experience
“Make it a point to visit the Monte Carlo Casino. Also, plan your trip around the time of the Venetian Carnival if possible.”

Can-avoid
“Walking tours in Europe in winter can be avoided as the weather during that time is quite unpredictable and cold.”

Must-avoid
“Avoid exploring only Paris when you visit France and venture out to other places in the beautiful country too.”
