Anshima and Vikesh, The Maldives

With its blue waters, magnificent atolls, coral reefs and powdery beaches, it was no wonder Anshima and Vikesh picked the Maldives for their honeymoon.

The couple had dated for seven years and finally got married in December 2018. Before they returned to their home in Washington D.C., they decided to decompress from the hectic wedding celebrations and a few days of paradise on earth was the perfect start to their lifetime of romance.

How We Met
“We met about seven years ago when we worked together in Mumbai. We were in a long-distance relationship for a year post which we decided to pursue further education in the US but luckily, we got admission in the same university so eventually, everything worked out perfectly.”

Honeymoon Planning
“Our list of honeymoon destinations included Greece, Seychelles, Ireland and Maldives. But after the choc-o-bloc wedding schedule, we just wanted a place where we could relax and a honeymoon on the beach began to look enticing. We loved the idea of Santorini in Greece but it was winter so we shifted focus to Seychelles and Maldives. After considering flights back to the US and other logistics, the decision to visit the Maldives made itself.”

Honeymoon Highlights
“We’ve travelled a fair bit around the world and we’d like to highly recommend the Coco Bodhu Hithi Resort. It was the highlight of the trip. The views were enchanting of course, but the service they provide is outstanding. They are the perfect balance of hospitality and privacy and it was just what we were looking for.”

Best meal of the trip
“Our favorite restaurant was the Stars which is also the best place on the island to view the sunrise and sunset. We had a private butler and the manager of the restaurant took special note of the fact that we are vegetarian and have some food restrictions. He was really careful and remembered our preferences and they whipped up some amazing dishes during our stay.

The best meal was a vegetarian Kabsa – an Arabic preparation that the manager requested his best chef to create for us. It was a surprise and the manager said he wouldn’t go into details until we had tasted it. It was the best thing we had ever eaten!”

Most romantic moment
A honeymoon in Maldives is bound to be steeped in romance but the couple will admit that an evening in their private pool, sipping on mocktails and watching the sunset together was a very special moment they will cherish forever.

Sounds like a movie scene? They say it was exactly like that.

Must-experience
“Try it all – scuba diving, water sports, jet-skiing, kayaking and boat rides by day, a private dinner on the beach by night and throw in a photo-shoot as a treat.”

Hotels we stayed at
“We stayed at one of Coco Bodhu Hithi Resort’s Private Water Villas in the Maldives.”
