Bhagyalaxmi and Anand – New Zealand and Singapore

Bhagyalaxmi and Anand from Ahmedabad enjoyed a picture-perfect honeymoon in scenic New Zealand and striking Singapore

We first met at a casual dinner with our families. It was an arranged marriage setting, but from the moment we met, we bonded easily and ended up chatting for two hours continuously. We even took the call to tie the knot that very night! We got married on the 5th of February this year in Ahmedabad. On the 11th of February, we flew to Singapore, and then to New Zealand for 25 days.
Our dream honeymoon destination was either New Zealand or Switzerland. We picked the former, as it was the ideal time to visit New Zealand. The beautiful mild summer weather there made it ideal for relaxed self-drive explorations. We extended our stopover in Singapore by a few days as we wanted to celebrate Valentine’s Day there.

Honeymoon Highlights
In Singapore we stayed at the iconic Marina Bay Sands hotel. We flew to North Island in New Zealand first before exploring the South Island. We opted for interesting hotels such as the SKYCITY hotel in Auckland, the Cliff Edge by the Sea in Piahia that offered great water views, the 5-star Regal Palms in Rotorua, the apartment-style Oak Shores Resort in Queenstown, the Heritage Hotel in Christchurch, and the Edgewater Resort overlooking Lake Wanaka in the lovely town of Wanaka.

Best meal of the trip
The best meal of our trip was at the Skyline Gondola in Queenstown. It was one of the best Italian meals we’ve ever had. For Indian food lovers, we highly recommend Tandoori Palace in Queenstown.

Most romantic moment
The entire trip was quite romantic! Each experience was very memorable, right from our spa date at the Polynesian Spa in Rotorua, a candle-lit tramway meal at Christchurch to the beautiful sunset dinner on Valentine’s Day by the rooftop infinity pool at the Marina Bay Sands hotel in Singapore.

Advice for couples
Do consider New Zealand for your honeymoon! The country is worth visiting because it is so scenic and untapped. We recommend a self-drive holiday where you can explore the beautiful landscapes at leisure. South Island is better than North Island in our opinion. And if you like clubbing and parties, just head to the buzzing casinos in Queenstown.

Must experience
Luge rides and bungee jumping in Queenstown. Make sure you include beautiful Wanaka in your itinerary. This beautiful, small town is situated on the edge of a calm lake. The serenity here will touch your heart and leave you smiling.

Can avoid
Rotorua, unless you love spas!
