Bhawna and Lokesh’s three – week long holiday had them enjoy the views in Santorini, go on a romantic gondola ride in Venice, walk along the Acropolis in Athens and kiss under the Eiffel Tower in Paris!
How we Met
We met at a family function. She was from the bride’s side, I was from the groom’s. A common friend introduced us and that was how it all began…
Honeymoon Planning
I’ve had a fascination for Europe, its rich culture and traditions, for a long time. Bhawna felt exactly the same way and so we decided to spend our honeymoon travelling the continent.
It can be quite tedious planning a honeymoon while continuing your hectic professional life so we decided to rely on the trusted expertise of Tripoetic who designed a month long itinerary for us.
We wanted our privacy, so no large, hectic travel groups for us. The team created a relaxed, customized honeymoon that catered to our interests and preferences. From sightseeing to the best restaurants, they planned it all out beautifully.
Honeymoon Highlights
We visited Athens, Santorini, Rome, Florence, Venice, Prague and Paris – each city lived up to its reputation, each was beyond beautiful! We also stayed in so many different hotels during our trip and the best ones were Mill Houses Elegant Suites in Santorini and Hotel L’Orologio in Venice. They were not only picturesque but also exuded an unmatched luxury and charm.
Best meal of the trip
We couldn’t pick just one! The Florian Café in Venice, one of the oldest establishments in the area, served the best coffees in Italy. We also loved the Trattoria de Giorgio in Florence for their antique interiors and lip smacking spaghetti and mushroom risotto. And then, The Golden Tikka restaurant in Prague served authentic Indian food which was delicious!
Most romantic moment
All of Europe is romantic but we did have a few moments that were more lovely than we could have imagined. We had a candle light dinner on a cruise down the river Seine in Paris on Valentine’s Day and that was marvelous. And then, it may be clichéd but the gondola ride in Venice was really one of the best boat rides we’ve ever taken.
Must-experience
Athens – Take a night stroll in the main market and around the Acropolis.
Santorini – Oia at Sunset, Fira for shopping and visit the light house at the end of the island.
Rome – We took a chariot ride through the city and visited the Colosseum and Vatican City.
Florence – Trek up the D’uomo, take a day trip to Pisa and the Chianti Wine Tour.
Venice- Take that gondola ride and visit St. Peter’s Square, Rialto Bridge and Campanile.
Paris- All of it.
Prague – We went to see the Astronomical Clock, Charles Bridge and Cesky Krumlov.
Can-avoid: Historical sites, apart from Acropolis in Athens
