A blissful trip to Switzerland, Paris and Greece

Komal and Kunal tied the knot at the ITC Grand Maratha Sheraton in Mumbai. Here, Komal, a Mumbai-based fashion designer writes about their holiday in Switzerland, Paris and Greece, their best experiences and recommendations for honeymooners.

Honeymoon planning

Kunal and I spent time researching on different places in USA, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. We were keen to see and spend time in very different type of places- snow clad mountains to busy city life. Not to miss the beaches. Kunal hadn’t been to Switzerland and I was keen on Paris. And our friends recommended Greece as a must-visit. So we decided on Europe, we booked some stays on our own and some with the help of a travel agent.

Places Visited

In Switzerland we were most excited to spend time viewing the mountain tops like Mt.Titlis and Jungfrau. We also visited the old town to dine around Chapel Bridge in Lucerne and to splurge on shopping. The most innovative concept of a restaurant called ‘Movie’ in Zurich impressed us. This Movie eatery is dedicated to the “American way of food” with a film-studio atmosphere. Most of the dishes are named after film classics.We also visited Geneva, Zermatt and Bern.

Paris was a complete change with a fine blend of vibrant night life, interesting shows like Moulin Rouge and romantic dining experiences atop the Eiffel Tower. We also visited Disneyland Paris which brought back the child in me.

Greece was like an after-party in our itinerary. Mykonos has the most blissful Paradise Beach and more white sand beaches while Santorini has the Rock beach (no sand), Black Sand Beach, Red Sand beach and the Volcano mountains.

Best Experiences

The top of the Eiffel tower while the lights shimmered was one of our best experiences. The swim at Petinos beach in Mykonos was blissful. We had some of our best meals at Sphinx restaurant on a hill top and Beach View in Santorini. Our most memorable meal was at Sky Lounge Restaurant in Hotel Melia, Athens, where we relished the Grilled Chicken and Fish platter while enjoying the views.
