Mona Corona and Yitzi, Fiji
Sipping on cocktails in the middle of the ocean and waking up to the sound of waves, Mona and Yitzi’s honeymoon in Fiji was a rejuvenating sensory experience.
With its idyllic crystal clear waters that refresh the senses, Fiji has been the go-to destination for Indian newlyweds to celebrate their honeymoon. For Mona and Yitzi, the Viti Levu island was a much-needed getaway after the rigours of the wedding festivities and to enjoy their first days as newlyweds in seclusion surrounded by the bounties of nature.
Honeymoon Planning
Mona shares, “Among the numerous stunning islands in the Fiji archipelago, the largest and most diverse in Viti Levu, which serves as the perfect base for boat adventures to more remote locales such as the untouched Yasawa or Taveuni Islands. On Viti Levu itself, you’ll find Natadola Beach, rated one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.”
Honeymoon Highlights
Mona shares, “While island hopping, I especially loved our stop at Cloud9, a floating bar in the middle of the ocean with a DJ, and delicious pizza from a stone oven. Another unforgettable highlight was participating in a kava ceremony, a traditional ritual deeply rooted in the local culture of the islands. Dining on the resort remains predominantly devoted to the island’s local cuisine with three eateries that offer a mix of Indian and Asian flavors. However, those seeking something different are welcome to a fourth dining option, the stylish, Mediterranean-Italian restaurant, Lagoon House.”
Overall, the couple was in for a rejuvenating time as they enjoyed the scenic vistas that Fiji had to offer while savouring the local culture. The relaxed atmosphere gave them plenty of time to nourish their bond as they played in the waves, took romantic walks down the beach and enjoyed dramatic sunsets together. Mona says, “Staying on the island of Viti Levu provides a perfect blend of relaxation, cultural immersion, and natural beauty. Staying at the Fiji Marriott Momi Bay was a real treat, as the gentle sound of waves woke us up every morning for an early swim, followed by a leisurely breakfast overlooking the turquoise lagoon. From the resort, common water activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, jet-skiing, and kayaking are the daily routine, but those who would like to connect and learn about island life can participate in complimentary cultural activities and workshops such as plant weaving, shell necklace making, and coconut tasting. Fiji is truly an idyllic destination for honeymooners looking to celebrate their love in paradise!”
Must Experience
Mona shares, “To get the most out of our visit, we let the staff arrange a private, customized boat tour exploring nearby islands such as the one where the movie Cast Away was filmed, followed by snorkeling off secluded sandbars that can only be accessed during low tide, and breaking for a wood-fired pizza lunch on a literal floating (cocktail) bar in the middle of the ocean!”
