How We Met
We met during our first job right after college in 2012 and became great friends. Then, I had to shift back to Dubai as I got a job in here. That’s when we realized our true feelings for each other and began dating for around four years which was a long-distance relationship. In 2016, he moved to Dubai to be with me.

Honeymoon Planning
We considered multiple destinations for our honeymoon such as Scotland, Seychelles, the Maldives and San Francisco. But nothing appeared more compelling than the romantic valleys and majestic Alps of Switzerland and the tulip gardens of Amsterdam.

Honeymoon Highlights

Switzerland
In Switzerland, we spent a majority of our time in Lucerne, Engelberg, Interlaken, Jungfraujoch. Lucerne – a compact city in Switzerland, known for its preserved medieval architecture, sits amid snow-capped mountains on Lake Lucerne. Major attractions here include Lake Lucerne, Chapel Bridge, the Lion Monument and loads of Swiss chocolates!

Engelberg is an alpine town in central Switzerland. In the center is Kloster Engelberg, a 12th-century monastery. Trails weave up Mt. Titlis, and ski runs go zigzag down. The revolving Titlis Rotair gondola lift leads to the summit, the Titlis Cliff Walk suspension bridge, and a glacial park. Trubsee, a glacial lake, lies nearby and is very beautiful.

Interlaken is a resort town built on a narrow stretch of valley, between the emerald-colored waters of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. It has old timber houses and parkland on either side of the Aare River. Its surrounding mountains, with dense forests, alpine meadows, and glaciers, has numerous hiking and skiing trails.

At the summit in Jungfraujoch, visitors were greeted by a high-Alpine wonder world made of ice, snow, and rocks. On the way to Jungfraujoch from Interlaken, detours to beautiful villages like Grindelwald, Kleine Scheidegg Station, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen and Murren made our journey heavenly.

Amsterdam
The city is bursting with interesting museums that are sometimes hidden behind beautiful canal-side facades. The diversity of the city center’s cultural attractions is vast – from the evocative Anne Frank House in the west of the center to the upbeat nature of Science Center NEMO in the east. In between, you will find an inspiring collection of art and history. The Keukenhof Gardens is the most beautiful spring garden in the world. More than seven million tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths fill over 32 hectares with color and fragrance for eight weeks. Zaanse Schans is a small neighborhood in the Dutch town of Zaandam which we enjoyed exploring. It is famous for historic windmills, the Zaans Museum, and distinctive green, wooden Dutch houses.

Best Meal
For us, dining out was more about trying local delicacies on our honeymoon. We relished the fries from Manneken Pis, macarons, Dutch waffles and Swiss delicacies from hotel STERN Lucerne, which were some of the best we have had during our honeymoon.

Most Romantic Moments
There were two moments that stood out from the memories we have of our honeymoon. One is when we went hiking in the woods behind the Château Gütsch, which is a major landmark at Lucerne. It was such a wonderful place to be and the entire place had a soul to it. We were transported to a whole different world, one that was calm, serene and beautiful. We both just wanted to hold each other and be there forever. Anyone could fall in love over and over again there. Another romantic moment we shared was at the Keukenhof Gardens with its tulip fields. There, one feels like one is walking through the frame of a romantic movie with the bright and beautiful blooms all around you. Imagine a walk through those tulip fields holding hands – can anything be more romantic?

Must Experience
We highly recommend a trip from Interlaken Ost to Jungfraujoch, trying out the popular Swiss chocolates, cycle rides, and the nightlife at Amsterdam. Other must-visit attractions include the Keukenhof Gardens and The Heineken Experience which includes a historic brewery.
