Ritika and Akash, Seychelles

A palette of white and aquamarine colored this honeymoon pretty!

Seychelles’ awe-inspiring natural beauty makes every trip to the archipelago a fantasy voyage. Sparkling in the Indian Ocean, the islands’ serenity enticed Ritika and Akash as they made a quick escape after their wedding celebrations.

Overwhelmed by the spellbinding vistas, Ritika tells us about the vacation they will never forget.

How We Met
We’ve known each other since we were in school and over the years our friendship evolved into a romantic relationship. I truly believe we were meant to be and that’s why we were able to make it despite a long distance relationship over five years.

Honeymoon Planning
We were actually quite keen on a honeymoon in the US. But there were visa procedural delays and so we decided to take a mini-moon in the meanwhile. Bali, Thailand, and the Maldives were off the list because of the monsoons. So we shifted focus to Seychelles. The archipelago is blessed with a tropical climate and the temperatures range from 24°C to 32°C. Despite being a tiny country it left us pleasantly surprised with its natural bounty.

Honeymoon Highlights
I would say that beautiful coral reefs, turquoise waters, and white sand beaches are some of the sights that will stay with us forever. We spent an entire day snorkeling, cruising and exploring the island on foot. We even got to meet the giant tortoises that freely roam there.

We also really enjoyed our stay at the Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa. The over-water, hillside villas gave us the best of both, beaches and tropical gardens. Perched on stilts, in the middle of the waters, our abode not only provide us with pristine views but also gave us ample privacy which we loved! Our stay here was a true escape.

We also visited Praslin, La Digue, Vallée de Mai, Anse Lazio, and Victoria.

Advice For Couples
Ensure that the accommodation you book has its licenses.
If you have to carry cash with you make sure you don’t change it all into the local currency.
When in Mahe or Praslin, renting a car is a good idea, even though you have the option of buses and taxis. In La Digue, you are better off renting a bicycle since the island is small enough to discover all the beautiful sights while cycling.
Airtel Sim cards can be bought at various outlets and at local stores around the three main islands of Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.
Be sure to call your tour guide prior to leaving the hotel because sometimes activities get cancelled due to weather conditions.

Must Experience
With waters so clear you can watch the fish swimming, Anse Lazio is possibly the most beautiful beach you will set eyes upon. This one I would say is number one on my list of things that couples ‘must experience’ and is followed closely by the reef safari and a trip to La Digue which offers abundant examples of Creole architecture.

Must Avoid
Staying in the sun too long since the temperatures at Seychelles rise considerably during the day. Not booking cabs through your hotel in advance since it is not easy to hail taxis on the road.
