Sanika and Rohit, Europe

From French coastlines to Venetian canals, this couple's honeymoon included memorable experiences across Europe.

Dubai-based Sanika and Rohit headed for their dream European honeymoon with a long itinerary that included Rome, Vatican City, Lake Como, and much more. Here Sanika shares how one surprise destination unfolded another and more all thanks to Rohit’s meticulous planning.

Honeymoon Planning
Sanika shares, “I’ve never been able to stand the cold, so, I had made it clear to Rohit beforehand that I wanted to visit a warmer country for our honeymoon. When the time came to start the planning, he surprisingly refused to share the details with me which I happily accepted since he reassured me that we’d be going to a warmer place. All I was told to do was to apply for a Schengen visa. Since Rohit works for a Dubai-based airline, the process of booking tickets was fairly easy with the added flexibility of changing our destinations as we wanted. Every trip that we took, starting from the moment we landed in Italy, was a surprise for me since Rohit had only disclosed that our entry and exit points were going to be in Italy. All in all, it was an amazing experience, and the thrill of not knowing the next destination made the whole trip seem even more magical!”

Honeymoon Highlights
“Our trip spanned across so many different places, and each one of them was rich in culture and heritage. Most of the time, we would avoid taking a tourist package and instead explore the city by ourselves with the help of Google. In Rome, we stayed at Positano. Next was Monaco where we took a train, followed by beautiful Nice in France, the famed Lake Como, Milan, and then romantic Venice, which is a gem of a city! Venice was the only place where we took a package and a boat ride to a nearby town named Burano. Honestly, the best part was that no matter where we went, it was so picturesque that we were never tired and were constantly craving to explore more.”

Best Meal of The Trip
“Tuttinpiedi in Venice was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Their pasta is out of this world! In fact, it was so good that we would have all three of our meals there. It was a local favorite too as, despite being a small place, it was always packed with customers.”

Most Romantic Moment
“The magic of romance can be found almost everywhere in Europe, but for us exploring the Amalfi Coast and driving through Positano would be our favorite romantic moments.”

Advice
“Avoid going to Europe when it’s too cold since many of the tourist attractions and bars/clubs are usually shut. Since we didn’t go during the peak of cold months, we enjoyed all the beautiful places minus the crowds. However, if you want to enjoy the nightlife, then summers are your best bet.”
