How We Met
“Shatabdi and I met when we were in college. She and I went to the same medical school where she was my junior. We became friends and soon enough romance followed too.”
Honeymoon Planning
“When we began planning our honeymoon we considered places like the Maldives, Australia, and Seychelles besides New Zealand. However, we had heard so much about the natural beauty that the Land of the Kiwi offers that we zeroed down on that. Since Fiji Islands isn’t very far away from New Zealand, we spent three days of our 11-day vacation there.”
Honeymoon Highlights
“In New Zealand, we stayed in Queenstown, Auckland, and Rotorua and visited several attractions including Milford Sound as well as Te Puia. However, the places that stood out to us was the Hobbiton Movie Set and the Waitomo Caves! Seeing the location where the ‘Lord of the Rings’ was filmed was such a surreal experience. It makes you feel like you’re in another world! The Waitomo Caves with its concentration of glow worms was another magical experience!”
Best Meal
“The meal that we had at Indigo Indian Asian Restaurant was one of the best we had had on our trip! We ordered paneer and chicken curries with naan, and we were only left wanting more! The service was impeccable too. I would give them a 5/5.”
Most Romantic Moment
“When we were in Fiji we went for a candlelight dinner at Port Denarau. There was live music in the background and right in front of us was the most gorgeous sunset we had ever seen. A good cuisine spread, fantastic company, and the cool ocean breeze made this night truly memorable.”
Advice for Couples
Must Visit
“When in Fiji be sure to visit Tivua Island which is a small isle with some great food and drink offerings. Experiencing this place is a must! In New Zealand do not miss out on any opportunity to dig into their ice creams. They do have some of the best ones.”
Must Avoid
“Avoid booking package tours when traveling to New Zealand. That country has so much to offer, and you will want to spend time at so many of its beautiful spots. However, if you take a group tour instead of making a customized itinerary, you will hardly have any time to soak in the splendor and will always be running to catch that tour bus!”
