Shilpa and Aravind, Switzerland and Paris

Nature lovers Shilpa and Aravind's trip to Switzerland and Paris

Visited: Switzerland and Paris
Stayed at: Lucernehof hotel, Lucerne; Hotel Merkur, Interlaken; Residence Richemont, Paris We went to Switzerland, the land of serene beauty where nature has manifested itself in all splendor and grandeur. Being nature lovers, Switzerland with green land scrapes, snow covered mountains, glaciers, rivers, waterfalls, cattle’s, little wooden houses was simply the right place for us.We went on a package tour, 6 days to Switzerland and 3 days to Paris. The trip was well arranged and hassle-free.We visited Mt.Titlis which has three levels of cable cars, the final stretch is the world’s only revolving cable car. The floor turns as the cable car elevates and it gives a full view of the surroundings. We really enjoyed it. It was Shilpa’s first experience with snow and she simply enjoyed it.

Jungfraujoch the “top of Europe” is at an altitude of 11,333 feet. The train journey from Interlaken all the way to the Kleinen Scheidegg is the most scenic. The train goes through a 3000 feet tunnel to reach the top of Europe. We saw the glaciers and the ice palace. It’s a don’t-miss experience!!. But be watchful of altitude sickness and in case of any problems report to the first- aid centre immediately.Paris was an entirely different experience. The people, the culture everything was different!! It is a romantic city with lots of monuments and museums. The metros are well connected and its fun traveling in them. We took the cruise on seine and sailed all along past the Notre Dame cathedral and back to Eiffel tower, we went on top of Eiffel tower. We also visited Versailles Palace, the Lourve museum and the Notre Dame cathedral.

Advice to other Honeymooners:– Plan your trip well in advance. Swiss accommodations get booked quick. We took a honeymoon package tour, tailored to our needs. Never travel in a group, its hard to meet their schedules.- You can do most of the bookings on internet including accommodation, sight seeing tickets and train passes. Trains are simply superb in Switzerland, Eurail passes are best for travel and economical. Also carry a few warm clothes.- For people traveling with digital cameras, most places in Switzerland have the facility to download photos to CD’s. It typically costs around 10 Swiss franks.- Carry a cell phone with global roaming; it’s really useful to contact people back home and vice versa. What to Avoid- Avoid carrying a lot of luggage. Carry a back pack it can be really useful.
