“We wanted a break from the wedding hustle and were dreaming of an island retreat where we could just relax together. We first thought we’d plan a long honeymoon in New Zealand but we’re both beach babies. The legends of the paradise that is Maldives were the main reason we decided to go there.”

“We booked a lagoon villa at the Taj Exotica Resort and Spa, Maldives. You feel like you’re living on a private island right in the middle of the ocean. There’s a reason they call Maldives paradise and this is an oasis in paradise – the resort has its own beach on the island of Emboodhu Finolhu, just 15 minutes from Male International Airport. It’s truly a beautiful location and we had such a rejuvenating stay.”
Best Meal of the Trip
“When you stay at the Taj there’s nothing to worry about. I’m vegetarian and was so well catered for. Every meal was amazing but the best meal of the trip was dinner on the beach area at the ’24 Degrees’ restaurant. You sit with your feet in the sand, candles alight and sweet music in the background. We even enjoyed our date night at the Deep End Restaurant which makes you imagine you’re dining in the middle of the gentle ocean, the sounds of the waves mesmerizing you.”
Most Romantic Moment
“One evening we were sitting by the private pool in our lagoon villa, sipping champagne and taking bites of the most amazing mousse cake! The Indian Ocean was lapping at the steps, there was a sky full of stars above… it was magical! We also had another very romantic evening at the Equator Bar on the beach, sipping on giant cocktails, eating some delicious snacks, smoking a sheesha and watching the sunset with live music playing.”

“Sounds cliché but the sunrise and sunset on the islands are beyond spectacular. And yes, please try out all the water sports!”

“We can’t think of anything in the Maldives that could possibly be unpleasant but of course, if you want to have the best time ever, choose where you stay very wisely.”
