From Nairobi, Kenya, Shivani and Umesh have known each other since they were 4 years old. Shivani says, “We were friends for more than ten years and then on the 26th of July, 2014 Umesh asked me out.” The couple dated for a year and decided to get married.

They celebrated their wedding at the Swahili Beach Resort, Diani (an island in the south of the city of Mombasa) in Kenya on the 16th of April, 2016.

Honeymoon Planning
“It takes a lifetime to discover Greece,” Shivani muses, “but only an instant to fall in love with it!”

“When we started to research honeymoon destinations, we considered Fiji islands and Croatia but Greece seemed perfect. It has a mix of everything we’d want on a holiday: historic sites, beaches, clubs, amazing food and gorgeous views,” she remembers. It took some reading about the Greek islands and looking at photographs and they were sure. With a little help and suggestions from a travel agency called True Greece, they booked their honeymoon.

Honeymoon Highlights
The couple’s journey started in Athens, down History Lane. They stayed at the Sofitel Hotel and with only one night in this city, explored the Acropolis. Shivani says, “After spending the day at the Acropolis, we spent the night at this rooftop bar called 360 Degrees which has a stunning view of the Acropolis.”

The next stop was a four-day trip to Mykonos where they checked into the Myconian Ambassador, a stunning hotel. “Our Thalassa suite had a scientific shower and an indoor Jacuzzi. We spent our time quad biking around the island, on the beach, drinking cocktails and partying. What a truly amazing experience!”

Their final destination was Santorini and Shivani says emphatically, “Santorini blew my mind. The beauty of this island was breathtaking. I could not have imaged a better place for my honeymoon. It was so romantic!” The couple were booked into the Astra Suites and were given the special Honeymoon Suite with a balcony to enjoy the view at breakfast and through the day. In Santorini, they spent their time relaxing, getting massages and shopping. “We also took a catamaran tour and witnessed the most gorgeous sunset. We also walked down to Fira, a town closeby and tried some amazing Greek food,” she smiles, “Those were the best ten days of my life. Greece is the perfect honeymoon destination and I couldn't have imagined a better place to visit.”

Best meal of the trip
Ramezzo Mykonos; try the Shrimp, Lobster and Lamb Duet. The restaurant has excellent service.

Most romantic moment
Our most romantic moment was in Santorini, on the catamaran. The gorgeous view and the most amazing sunset I have ever experienced shared with my husband.

Must experience
One must experience the catamaran tour in Santorini and quad biking around Mykonos town.
