Srishti and Dev, Bali

With floating breakfasts, romantic beach walks, and thrilling rafting sessions, this couple’s Bali honeymoon was filled with equal doses of tranquility and adventure.

Srishti, a corporate professional, and Dev, an Indian Airforce Officer were setup by Srishti’s sister, and from the first meeting itself, both knew that it was meant to be. After a whirlwind romance and a grand marriage, the couple decided to celebrate their love with a long honeymoon in Bali where they could amble along scenic beaches while lounging in the lap of luxury.

How They met
Srishti shares, “My sister played the matchmaker in our case and set us up for a meeting, although neither of us was looking for a relationship at that time. But at the first meeting itself, inexplicably, it felt so right between us, and we decided to get hitched. Dev comes from a defense background and he wasn’t keen on a grand wedding, but I really wanted a memorable ceremony for the both of us, which he relented to!”

Honeymoon Planning
Surprisingly, Bali wasn’t their first choice when it came to choosing a honeymoon destination. However, the weather played a pivotal role for the couple and Bali it was! Srishti shares, “Earlier we had Europe on our radar, but the extreme cold weather there during January put us off. Instead, we zeroed in on Bali, which with its scenic beaches, warm hospitality, and sunny weather turned out to be the best decision. For our hotels, we chose properties like Rama Beach Resort & Villas, Vila Ombak Hotel and Ubud Heaven Sayan Villas Bali that were close to nature while offering us impeccable hospitality.”

Honeymoon Highlights
The duo made the most of Bali’s natural bounties and rich culture by visiting key places that reflected the best of the country. While they enjoyed natural wonders like Mount Batur, activities like white water rafting on Ayung River and the Bali Safari added a dash of action to their trip. Famed for their intricate architecture, the celebrated temples of Bali left them in complete awe. Taman Ayung, Tanah Lot and Ulun Danu Beratan Temple were the temples that featured top on their list.

Best Meal of The Trip
Srishti recollects, “If you’re a hardcore Indian food lover, then Bali has a lot to offer as there are many Indian restaurants scattered across the country. Being close to the sea there are also many seafood options. But my vegetarian soul finally found its soulmate in two dishes called nasi goreng and mi goreng. A combination of fried rice and fried noodles served with scrambled eggs, these dishes stole my heart from the first bite. Also, I would highly recommend trying their local beer named ‘Bintang’ which was our favorite must-have with every meal. Just two pints of this beer is enough to give you a happy buzz.”

Most romantic moment
“Honestly, every day in Bali was an amazing experience filled with romance. During our stay in Ubud, we enjoyed a fairytale style pool date-night at the floating bar, while in Gili Trawangan, we spent precious evenings walking on the beautiful beaches and enjoying romantic sunset dates with a beer in our hands. However, one of the most memorable moments was at the Jimbaran beach where we had the most romantic candlelight dinner that was meticulously planned in advance to celebrate Dev’s birthday.”, recalls Srishti.

Must-experience
“One just can’t resist visiting the crystal-clear beaches of Bali, especially, Gili Trawangan, where we had amazing beach walks and witnessed many dramatic sunsets. Additionally, one must also try snorkeling or sea-walking to unleash their adventurous spirit. For those couples who want a peaceful getaway, Ubud is perfect with its lavish hotels and serene atmosphere. On the other hand, Kuta, with its bustling pubs and cafes is a great choice for social soirées.

January is also a great month to plan your trip to Bali since it isn’t too crowded, and one can also get their hands on some incredible hotel and travel deals which would make the trip even more affordable!”, advises Srishti.

Can-avoid
“When it comes to planning a trip, it’s best left to the experts. Hiring a travel planner/firm lets you enjoy your trip seamlessly as everything is pre-arranged for you right from the itinerary to the pick-ups and drop-offs. So, if possible, please consult a travel planner or agency to enjoy your honeymoon to the fullest.”, says Srishti.

Must-avoid
“Beware of random cab drivers and travel agents. Only go with the ones you can completely trust. Also, avoid going to the local massage parlors dotted on every street. Instead, try out the hotel’s in-house spa services for a better experience.”, advises Srishti.
