Aman and Paul, Arizona
Adorned with a floral arch and gold-hued antique elements, this couple’s wedding contrasted delightfully with the desert landscape of Arizona.
A virtual meeting set the sparks flying between Aman and Paul which led to a relationship that stood stoic despite the miles in between California and Arizona where they resided respectively. After a proposal by Paul that took Aman by surprise, the duo decided to tie the knot in a series of colorful and intimate functions that reflected their rich culture.
How They Met
For Amanjit Kaur and Pravinder Singh, the distance was a constant hurdle, but with continuous communication, they both made things work between them. Aman shares, “Both of us first crossed paths virtually on Facebook. Paul lived in California, whereas, I lived in Arizona which is about five hours’ driving distance. Hence, for the first five years, it was a long-distance relationship for us. But as fate would have it, both of us struck the perfect balance and conquered the miles. When Paul finally popped the question in a dreamy proposal that he secretly planned with the help of my sisters, I said an emphatic ‘yes!’”
Wedding Planning
The duo acknowledges the importance of having skilled vendors on their team in order to make their dream wedding come true. On the makeup front, they chose Gabi Elizalde Makeup and Hair along with photographer Lauren Schneider Photo and videographer TimeLens Photo and Video.
Weddings Functions
Haldi
Staying true to tradition, the couple chose hues of yellow for their haldi ceremony. However, for the decor, they added splashes of vibrant color with multicolored drapes that contrasted beautifully with the clear blue sky.
Mehendi
With a decor that boasted of colorful metallic accents, the duo chose to incorporate a rich green hue into their outfits. Surrounded by pastel-hued blooms and their loved ones, it was a cheery affair as Aman and her girlfriends got beautiful henna patterns on their arms. For this joyous occasion of Mehendi, they both incorporated green into their outfits.
Jaggo
Keeping it desi and vibrant, Aman and Paul chose an orange color palette for their jaggo celebrations. Adorned with an antique swing and sheer drapes, everyone took the dance floor by storm as they danced exuberantly to the beats of the dhol.
Wedding
“For the wedding day, I was adamant about wearing the traditional red hue and decided to pair it with regal green kundan jewelry. Overall, it was a serene ceremony where we both celebrated our love with God and our family members as witnesses.
Later on, a glitzy yet intimate reception with family followed where we enjoyed our first evening as newlyweds.”
Advice for Couples
Aman advises, “Don’t let the pandemic ruin the happy moments in your life. An intimate wedding is just as beautiful as a grand one when you’re surrounded by the ones you love the most.”
