Busy professionals Priyanca and Vishal were caught up in their demanding professions and lived in separate cities. However, Cupid planned a romantic detour which commenced when they met each other at a bar. Their wedding at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina, in Cambridge, Maryland, was a beautiful affair. Here, bride Priyanca shares details of the dreamy wedding which required intense coordination with vendors in India and in the US.
How We Met
“Vishal and I met at a bar in Philadelphia. While I am a physician, practising in Philadelphia, he is a lawyer and was living in Birmingham when we first met. He was looking at moving to Chicago but once our relationship deepened, his path quickly changed and we’ve been together ever since!”
Wedding Venue
“We wanted a venue with proximity to water. When looking for the ideal destination, we visited nearly every property from New York to Washington D.C. Located on the banks of the Choptank River, Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina stood out as the best option. Its gorgeous outdoor and plush indoor spaces were apt for our large guestlist. Their team was really flexible in terms of catering as well.”
Wedding Planning
“Planning an Indian wedding overseas has many challenges. However, with the help of family and friends, everything was just perfect! I also had Priya Patel and Natasha Patel of Xquisite Events by my side throughout. The stunning setups were all due to the decor team of Platinum Weddings and Decor whom we trusted completely. All my outfits were by designer Meghna from Ahmedabad in Gujarat, India and our wedding cards were from India as well. Coordinating with the vendors was a task but it was all worth it. My makeup was done by Payal Patel and as for the photography, we had Shariq Khan of iKHANic Productions capturing our fairy tale moments.”

Mehndi & Sangeet
“Our wedding festivities kickstarted on a bright note with a Moroccan-themed mehndi and sangeet. Right from the suspended lanterns that formed a part of the decor to the tantalizing Indian street food including jalebi and pav bhaji, everything was beyond our imagination. I chose an embroidered green lehenga for this dual event and Vishal paired smartly with my look in his regal ensemble.”
Wedding
“We chose flowers and a pastel palette for the wedding decor. The scenic views, manicured lawns and our mandap which was resplendent with garlands of white blooms suspended from the top made for a wonderful setting. Vishal and I also coordinated our looks by wearing pastel pink outfits for our big day.”
Reception
“Following the wedding, we hosted a black-tie reception that ensured that our celebrations ended on a joyous note! The decor was kept simple yet elegant with pastel flowers, golden drapes and chandeliers. Aligning with the theme, I chose a champagne gold lehenga for the function. The best part of the night was our first dance!”
